We at Team Hines are pumped to announce our newest development in Melbourne, 10 Ballarat - 250 units of amenity-rich multifamily. Institutional Build-to-Rent is a fairly new product type in Oz, so we're proud to be innovators. As we say around here, 加油 (Add oil!)
Research output and technical discovery for universities and institutions are key breadcrumbs for identifying clusters of opportunity on a global scale. The Nature Index is just one example of a metric worth following.
Boston and Bay Area remain top clusters for US life science, but San Diego and the Research Triangle aren't far behind.
Life Science VC funding topped $26B for 1H 2021 and there have already been 59 major US IPOs this science real estate is meanwhile undersupplied.
What’s a building you wish you’d built? Here’s one snapped from my morning run in Hong Kong’s Happy Valley
Photos from Hungry Ghost Festival in Hong Kong - which fell on Aug 22 this year. On the 15th day of the 7th lunar month every year, the gates of the underworld open up and spirits of the departed roam the earth. H/T Nora Tam-SCMP
gm …from my tiny 1,500 person hometown in Illinois. Here’s a nice little coffee shop ☕️ that opened up last year, in a building that was vacant my entire childhood. Love seeing this.

If you remember MTV True Life's "You Think You Know but You Have No Idea," you'll dig this listen. "FB is the 3rd largest capex spender in the S&P 500, behind only Apple + Google. They'll spend $21B in capex this year. Twitter, the nearest social competitor, will spend $1B"…
#Uber to increase Return-to-Work flexibility. "Can be 3 days/week, 2 the next, or 5 days + 0 the next." The So What: Future of Work ≠ Death of Office. Even for fully Remote Corps. It's the driver for creative, geographically diverse space.

As RTE (return to everything) hits full swing, it’s fascinating to see the adaptation. Here’s the schedule at our local Pilates gym. Are y’all seeing similar examples?
Vietnamese: Houston. Also, as Chinese food is so diverse, LA and SF can have certain Chinese food crowns, but Houston wins for Hunan and Sichuan. @abourdainfans know these truths. CC: @Houstonians…
There’s nothing better than seeing people truly use public spaces as if they belong to them. Because they do! I see this gentleman, Uncle Liu, almost every day on my 香港 runs.
My beloved hometown has changed a bit over the last 160 years…
What's a Chinese company you've heard of but wish you better understood?
2015: Pinduoduo Doesn't Exist 2021: 800M Users The rise of social shopping is so obvious it hurts. And $PDD is next year's almanac. If you've ever tried to sell or scale basically anything, grab a pencil. Enjoyed chatting with Xin Yi Lim to understand how they've pulled it off.…
Increased safety for the youth and elderly. Cheaper commutes across incomes. Tree count up, heat islands down. And bike to work counts up 500%. Where next?…
Is there a corner of the internet more positive and supportive than retwit?

Approx 10,000 area residents, mostly former area slaves gathered to honor the "Martyrs of the Race Course" and all who were lost in the Civil War struggles. The NY Tribune described “a procession of friends and mourners as South Carolina and the United States never saw before.”
The first Memorial Day took place in Charleston, SC - where 275 Union soldiers were buried in a mass grave at a planter's racetrack. Freed slaves gathered to give the soldiers a proper burial, digging individual graves and cutting headstones for each.
As we return from Memorial Day weekend to the new normal of our lives, let us not forget the many colors of history. A short lesson: The first Memorial Day was commemorated by freed African American Slaves in 1865 to honor the Civil War fallen.
