There’s an FG-States antagonism that used to be the norm, pre-2015. FG impeaching Govs at will, withholding funds, splitting the Governors Forum, NEC not holding, etc. Those times are fully behind us now. If there are any differences they must be resolved with maturity.
why is citizen/civil society pressure so slack at state levels? Pressuring center to sort state matters is debilitating If most States refused to implement Judicial autonomy pressure should be applied at states. And the few states that have done it lauded Leadership is local twitter.com/seunonigbinde/…

Because civil societies, political and governance focus is still too FG - centric. It's clear this is a state issue, yet we are simply dismissing the governors' bad behaviour to ask the FG to step in. We either want this restructuring or we don't. We can't keep prevaricating. twitter.com/seunonigbinde/…

@Ankeh57 @NorlandHealth @toluogunlesi ShopRite does patronise local suppliers, in fact many businesses in Nigeria depend on them. Our farm has supplied them farm produce for many years and we're still do till date. To the best of my knowledge, they import what they can't get locally

To understand the Nigerian phenomenon, imagine the wife of a politician who made a lace of N150,000 to go and attend a function in the US, and didn't pay the tailor's N12,000 fee for sewing until 5months after, when she needed to sew another dress.

Nigeria's Test Positivity Rate for Covid-19 is currently 1% (meaning 1 out of 100 tests returns positive), says @Chikwe_I At one point it was in excess of 20%. But we cannot afford to let our guard down. COVID is still very real, and a 3rd wave still very possible.

Apparently there are some African countries who made the mistake of using all their initial supply for Dose 1. Now supply timelines have changed & they’re stuck. Have given out Dose 1, now more than 12 weeks later(max recommended time between 1 & 2)—no supply available for Dose 2
Nigeria received 4m initial doses of AZ vaccine. Original Plan was to give 4m eligible Nigerians their first dose, and then await next arriving batch for second dose. As soon as it was clear next batch would be delayed, plan changed from Dose 1 for 4m to Doses 1&2 for 2m.
Note that everybody who has received a first dose of the COVID-19 Vaccine in Nigeria is guaranteed their second dose from current supplies.
So Timelines have changed regarding arrival of next batch of vaccines in Nigeria, from the COVAX facility. Health Minister says now scheduled to arrive August. No supplies yet because of resurgence in India etc. (NPHCDA says it’ll be AZ/J&J/Pfizer or a combo of all three).
DG NCDC, @Chikwe_I: One of the biggest lessons we've learnt from COVID-19 is the need to be humble. Many of the countries we celebrated at the beginning of the pandemic are now in the middle of a severe resurgence. We must learn to never let down our guard. #StateHouseBriefing
