Farron to agent Truss: ‘the cat has entered the washing machine - repeat - the cat has entered the washing machine..’
Johnson leaves the stage, focussing on the real enemy: “We must prevent the Liberal Democrats”. We know our place…
The UK-Australia trade deal poses a huge threat to British farmers. It undercuts our food standards and, as @Ladiesinbeef1 highlighted, is like Christmas for Australia. Today I challenged the Govt on why they hadn’t brought the full deal before Parliament for proper scrutiny.

Liz Truss currently in 3rd. I’m sure we could lend either of the other two a bar chart…
In Cumbria, less than 1 in 3 adults have seen an NHS dentist in the past 2 years, while only 1 in 2 children have seen an NHS dentist in the last 12 months. Today, I challenged the new Health Secretary to bring in urgent reforms so we can fix this crisis.
Our thanks to @timfarron MP for pushing for urgent change in NHS dentistry. Today's announcement changes none of the fundamentals. The service remains underfunded & overstretched. And government targets still come before patient care. bda.org/news-centre/pr…Pi

Stripping @Tobias_Ellwood of the whip for visiting Putin-threatened Moldova in his capacity as Defence select committee chair, is extraordinarily petty from Mr Johnson and his team. If Conservatives have *anything* about them, this should trigger a new round of resignations… twitter.com/tobias_ellwood…
Government has not fallen on a vote of confidence… so they can go back to eating each other’s faces off instead.
Arriving in that London on a train without aircon. It’s slightly cooler on Venus I understand? I’m thinking I *might* postpone my run….
🚨 I'm advertising for a Administrative and Constituency Manager to join my busy constituency office team in Kendal. Full details in the link below - please share with anyone you think may be interested 👇w4mpjobs.org/JobDetails.asp…X0
Very grateful to the fatuous five for writing all our electing slogans for us. Ta! 👍
Considering his market and his opposition in this election, this is a clever move… although the super long list of Brexit benefits is a bit comical (2… that haven’t really happened anyway..) twitter.com/RishiSunak/sta…
I started the day giving the sermon at St Paul’s in Grange…! Then to Staveley to help celebrate the opening of the amazing new play ground with Cllr Hazel Hodgson. I also tested out my not-that-awesome dribbling skills with Staveley Utd FC. Not sure my trial was a success…
Hmm. Reflecting on the poll of swing voters after the debate, it seems as though the candidates who voters think were 1st and 2nd, are rated 2nd last and last by Tory members… beginning to think they may have a deathwish… twitter.com/GoodwinMJ/stat…
A massive thank you to our local MP Tim Farron who is running the London Marathon in aid of the Pride of Cumbria @GNairambulance! If you can, please show your support and help him raise vital funds for this lifesaving charity 🙏 🤍twitter.com/timfarron/stat…Qlpj

Was dressed respectably when canvassing for @jakearperkins in Morecambe - was really impressed with how much people in Harbour ward appreciate the commitment that Jake and the local Lib Dems show to the community all year round. Good luck in Thursday’s by election!
Surgery in Windermere, community meeting in Kirkby Lonsdale, canvassing for ⁦@jakearperkins⁩ in Morecambe…then I ran home. I’m training for the London Marathon, you can sponsor me here if you’d like to help me raise funds for ⁦@GNairambulancetcslondonmarathon.enthuse.com/pf/tim-farron?…
A busy surgery in Windermere this morning and then on to Kirkby Lonsdale to talk to the team behind the ‘Big Vision’ for St Mary’s church and the town - it’s an exciting plan, so we now need to work hard together to find the funding!
Brilliant. This just had me in tears. I completely lost it at ‘Janet Jackson: yes’ twitter.com/jackbern23/sta…
During opposing parties’ leadership contests, I confess that there is normally a candidate that I secretly hope doesn’t win (because I think they’ll be a threat to us). Blair, Cameron and Johnson spring to mind. Bless them, but I honestly have no fear of any of this lot.
Delighted to hear Tory Net Zero sceptic John Hayes MP on the Radio 4 PM programme telling the nation that “I remember the summer of 75”.

These two tweets from @e_casalicchio say it all: This Conservative Government have knowingly chucked British farming under a bus and then run away scared. As pathetic as it is disgraceful.
It was especially wonderful to speak to the man whose sermon - arguably - brought down the PM last week…. twitter.com/Christianityma…
The thing about candidates who are both a) a blank sheet of paper and b) someone whose jib the cut of which voters like… is that people project on to them their own opinions and prejudices…. Only to be angrily disappointed when they find out what that candidate *really* thinks.
🚌 More frequent and affordable bus services is crucial to improving the life opportunities of people living in rural areas. To do this, we need to give local authorities the funding and the power to run their own bus services. My comments in the Levelling Up Bill Committee jb

Yes! Save the old tram road bridge!
He says this is his last PMQs… Is Mr Johnson planning on skiving next week? We’re still sitting next Wednesday…
2 sendings off before a ball is even kicked! #PMQs
This evening’s run was a *little* bit warm… (will no one think of the gingers?) I’m training for the London Marathon, running to raise funds for ⁦@GNairambulance⁩ to help them to save more lives. You can help me to help them here: tcslondonmarathon.enthuse.com/pf/tim-farron?…
Egregious use of the word ‘egregious’ there…
It was probably a political mistake for Labour to propose this… but it’s a far bigger own goal for the PM and his would-be successors to block it. Shutting down debate, avoiding being held to account… the Conservatives look weak, divided and scared of scrutiny. twitter.com/KevinASchofiel…
At today's Levelling Up Bill Committee meeting I have put forward the amendment below 👇 This would help us to understand the scale of the problem of excessive second home ownership, hold the Govt to account and take proper action to provide homes for the permanent population.s
Soaring energy bills will be devastating for people this winter. But for those households living off grid and relying on heating oil - over 19,000 in Cumbria alone - there is no energy price cap whatsoever. Today I asked ministers what they plan to do support these families.
This Conservative government is completely out of touch with the countryside. From Cumbria to Cornwall, our communities feel taken for granted. Now is the time to cut fuel duty for rural communities before more farmers and families suffer. express.co.uk/news/politics/…
Parliament may not sit today because of leaks. Insert your terrible jokes here…
This is wonderful, listen to it all please. I personally have never been approached in an electrical store and urged to stand by a Prime Minister. There was however that time in a Gas showroom when I was implored to back Jim Callaghan… twitter.com/PoliticsMoment…
Rather warm for today’s training run! I’m running the London Marathon to raise funds to help ⁦@GNairambulance⁩ save more lives in Cumbria and beyond. I’d be really grateful if you could throw them a few quid here… tcslondonmarathon.enthuse.com/pf/tim-farron?…
A really useful morning talking and listening to local farmers and NFU leaders at Benson Hall Farm near Kendal. Farming is vital to our food security and to delivering environmental and other public goods. The government must listen to farmers or else all of that is at risk.
Congratulations to Keir St… oh! Fancy that! #winninghere twitter.com/aldc/status/15…
After taking soundings within my constituency, I shall be supporting @Wera_Hobhouse twitter.com/LBarchart/stat…
If a headteacher, a business owner or any other leader in normal society had been found guilty of what Boris Johnson has done, then they would made to clear their desk that day, not hang around for the next few months in a caretaker role. He must leave now.
Tim Farron(LibDem MP) - "Boris Johnson is leaving in disgrace. If you were a headteacher & you'd been found guilty of the things Boris Johnson has been, you would clear your desk that day, there would not be a 3 to 4 month handover period."

In a time of uncertainty and flux, it’s reassuring to see that some constants remain (Jim’s on his feet again in the commons)
Given that the Levelling Up Bill committee got cancelled due to *all* the ministers resigning, I went for a training run. I’m running the London Marathon to raise funds to help ⁦@GNairambulance⁩ to save more lives - you can support them here: tcslondonmarathon.enthuse.com/pf/tim-farron?…
Resigning… but not yet … and now appointing new ministers. He’s not given up has he? This resignation stuff is just a ruse to give him a bit more time to find a way of clinging on…. Or have I turned into a conspiracy loon?
