It was young hard rock vs iron drill bit at our first site. The brown drill bit put up a good fight and gave us some good cores, but that is the end for this drill bit!

Marcin is a paleontologist onboard. He has told me about the weird but delicate shapes the different foraminifera can have. He looks for them in our core samples.

Why were styrofoam cups sent to the seafloor? It is a great demonstration of the immense pressure that exists at the bottom of the sea. The colored cups went to the sea floor while the plain white cup stayed onboard. #EXP393
