Hammam was buried in his beloved village, Bazbour, south of idlib. He left behind three children, and a wife. His memories will be engraved in our hearts. His years of giving tell a story of love to his land. Hammam was the last member of the documentation team that we lost.
While Hammam was lying on the bed of the operation room which was colored by his blood, he repeated his last words over and over again, begging us to return to him his camera so he can go back into the field.
He and his colleagues worked saving the injured and recovering the dead, but the rescuers turned to victims, and Hammam documented the last moments of his death and the injury to two of his colleagues. That was the last thing he filmed.
On July 17,2021, Hammam and his colleagues received a call to respond and save a family who was attacked with Laser-guided Krasnopol shells by the regime and Russia. When Hammam and his team reached the bombing scene, they were deliberately targeted by the same types of shells.
Hammam was a witness to hundreds of massacres committed against civilians. He documented many deaths and tragedies. Hammam used to tell his colleagues all the time that one day, and he would document his own last moments.
This is Hammam Alasi, the last of th WH journalists to lose his life in the field. A tenacious passionate soul, he felt it was his duty to bear witness and document attacks. Even in his final moments, he documented his own death after a targeted strike. #WorldPressFreedomDay

Last night, our teams were racing against time to finish rehabilitating a playground to receive the children on the first day of #Eid in the town of #Taftanaz, east of #Idlib. In the morning, the volunteers shared joyful moments with the children. #WhiteHelmets
These two innocent little girls, Jumana Hussein and Fatima Dandel, passed away today in a tragic drowning accident in the waters of Qastoun dam north of #Hama. They were waiting to celebrate Eid and wear new clothes, but their beautiful clothes turned into burial shrouds.
