Our state has a broken health care system. Yet, Brian Kemp has made it worse by not expanding Medicaid and by passing an extreme and dangerous six-week abortion ban.
Kemp is a danger to women and families.
Georgia is in a health care crisis.
➡️ 82 counties do not have an OB/GYN physician.
➡️ 18 counties do not have a general family doctor.
➡️ 9 counties do not have a physician at all.
No matter who you are, no matter where you live, we live in the United States and our ability to control our bodies should be protected regardless of state lines.

Women do not have access to an OB/GYN in 82 of Georgia’s 159 counties.
Under Brian Kemp’s anti-abortion law that will soon take effect, by the time they would be able to access care, it could be too late to get help.

Local leaders are the cornerstone and the future of our state. As governor, it would be my privilege to partner with them as we build #OneGeorgia where folks across our state can thrive and succeed.
I was honored to speak at @gacities’ annual convention today, a gathering of city and local officials in Georgia.
We talked to a few Georgia women to hear their reactions in the aftermath of Roe being overturned, how they are personally impacted and why reproductive health care matters to them.
Abortion under the care of a medical professional is safe. However, once Georgia’s 6-week abortion ban goes into effect, those seeking abortion care will have few options.
Low income, Black, brown and rural women (especially those who live in our 82 counties without an OBGYN) and LGBTQ+ people are particularly vulnerable at this time.
We can — and must — fight back and protect them.
Last week, Brian Kemp immediately asked the Court to allow his extreme and dangerous six-week abortion ban to take effect.
Six weeks is before most women know they are pregnant.
Let me be clear: His ban will not stop abortions. It will only stop safe abortions.
After SCOTUS’ decision to overturn Roe v. Wade, Brian Kemp moved immediately to implement his six-week abortion ban because he wants women across Georgia to lose their rights.
Kemp does not intend to protect us. We need new leadership in Georgia.
Let me be clear: This won't put an end to abortions. It will only put an end to safe abortions.
We will fight for safe access to reproductive healthcare.
We will make Georgia safe for women.

Seven years ago, SCOTUS rightly affirmed the right to marriage for same-sex couples.
But SCOTUS just denied constitutional privacy, which undergirds legal equality for the LGBTQ+ community.
Women, LGBTQ+, POC — our rights are bound together and we must protect them. Together.
The overturning of Roe is the direct result of decades of strategy to strip women of reproductive healthcare and full autonomy over our bodies.
As governor, I will veto any anti-choice legislation and work to roll back existing anti-choice legislation.
In the days and months ahead, remember that we are not alone.
Believe in our ability to protect one another. Lean into our capacity to defend our right in the streets and at the ballot box.
And know that together, if we unite — good will be won.
We are better than this.
