Vancouver's Caio Alexandre really did try to draw a penalty by grabbing Kellyn Acosta and pulling him down onto him on a corner kick. Love when the referee uses VAR to spot that sort of foolishness. Almost feel like a yellow for simulation isn't enough.
You can credit a talented & veteran squad w/having familiarity & experience to transition smoothly to a 3-5-2, but Brian Schmetzer deserves credit w/ seeing potential & making the change. Yes, only 3 games, but #Sounders look super sharp even without Lodeiro (and minus Morris)
The #Sounders with a dominant 3-0 win over the #LAGalaxy . Really is impressive how smoothly Seattle has taken to this new formation, and Brad Smith has been outstanding in the left wingback role. And Ruidiaz is Ruidiaz 🇵🇪 Galaxy better under Vanney, but still have work to do.
Rubio Rubin just had his way with Sporting KC's defense for his second goal of the day, giving RSL a 3-1 lead in the 79th minute. Have said it before, just crazy that there was minimal interest in Rubin from #MLS teams. Already looking like a huge pickup for RSL.
Gio Reyna has two goals already in Borussia Dortmund’s DFB Pokal semifinal vs. Holstein Kiel. Reyna has been on 🔥🔥 the past month and now has Dortmund on the verge of a DFB Pokal final.
Caden Clark is a natural in the penalty area. Finds a way to create magic and finish chances:
Jesse Marsch is officially hired as RB Leipzig manager. Big opportunity for him in the Bundesliga after a successful stint with Red Bull Salzburg. He will also be reunited with Tyler Adams. twitter.com/rbleipzig_en/s…
Peter Schmeichel (the goalkeeper): "That goal is on the defenders." Micah Richards and Jamie Carragher (the defenders): "That goal is on the goalkeeper." 🤷‍♂️ #BlameThemAlll
To be clear, not hating on Navas. He had a day to forget today, but PSG absolutely wouldn't be in the semifinals if not for his heroics in the early rounds. Today though, whoof.
My exact quote to Ives Jr. in the first half of PSG-Man City. "You know what you never find yourself saying when you watch Keylor Navas play? 'What the heck was he doing on that play?' " Whoops. #AccidentalJinx
FINAL - PSG 1, Manchester City 2. A pair of freak goals left PSG stunned and City overjoyed returning to Manchester with two away goals and a lead. Series isn't over, not when you have Mbappe+Neymar, but City's defense will be tough to break down at the Etihad.
GOAL Man City!! Mahrez hits a free kick through the wall and beats Navas to take the 2-1 lead. Brutal work from the PSG wall there. 1-2 Man City, 73rd minute
GOAL Man City!! Kevin DeBruyne floats a cross into the danger zone and it somehow fools Navas and bounces straight into the net. Huge away goal. 1-1, 66th minute
Riyad Mahrez keeps a good fade, doesn’t he? He should pass his barber’s number to Keylor Navas. Still 1-0 PSG, 29th minute.
GOAL PSG! Marquinhos with the header off the corner kick and PSG strikes first in Paris. 1-0 PSG, 16th minute
A total of 10 different teams are represented in the SBI MLS Best XI for Week 2, with a #Verde duo , a #Quakes74 teenager and the #LAGalaxy Mexican goal machine leading the way: sbisoccer.com/2021/04/chicha…
Feel like Florentino Perez called in a favor after watching Marcelo struggle in the first leg. twitter.com/SkySportsNews/…
GOAL Union!! Another counterattack & another perfect sequence catches Atlanta exposed pushing numbers forward. Anthony Fontana puts the finishing touches on what is now a 3-0 lead for Philly in ATL. Atlanta goes from dominating this game to essentially giving away the series.
GOAL Union! Przybylko with an absolute DAGGER to make it 2-0 in Atlanta. Beautiful counterattack unlocks Atlanta on the break and Przybylko makes no mistake. 0-2 #DOOP , 74th minute.
GOAL Union! Corner kick finds its way to a wide-open Kacper Przybylko for the back-post tap-in. Never fails. One team creates and squanders a bucketload of chances, and the other team eventually finds that goal to punish the wastefulness. 0-1 Union, 58th minute in Atlanta
Andre Blake with two more outstanding saves, including a good stop on Josef Martinez. Live look at Andre Blake vs. Atlanta United right now:
Andre Blake is LOCKED IN tonight vs. Atlanta United, makes his second highlight-reel save to deny an Emerson Hyndman rocket. Good game so far, just need that first goal to open things up. Still 0-0 in ATL, 33rd minute.
FINAL- Real Madrid 1, Chelsea 1. Chelsea will be happy w/an away goal & road draw heading back to London, but Blues really could have put a big number up w/that dominant start. Real Madrid was better after Benzema's goal, but faded & offered little late. Pulisic = MOTM
Feel like Casemiro gets away with some card-worthy challenges because his face is so emotionless when he plays that referees watch him and think "He doesn't look like he just broke a leg. I'll allow it."
Marcelo was like "You thought I forgot about that first-half challenge from behind didn't you?" when he fouled Pulisic just now. Pulisic exits the match in the 66th minute. Good night for him, scored the goal, deserved an assist on the early Werner chance. 1-1, 66th minute
In what minute will Aleksander Ceferin pick up the Buffalo Wild Wings hotline phone and call in to request the phantom penalty for Chelsea? Asking for Florentino Perez. Let's go with 85th minute. Still 1-1, 59th minute.
HALFTIME- Real Madrid 1, Chelsea 1. Tuchel will love the away goal, but will feel like Chelsea let Real Madrid off the hook by not scoring more than one during a dominant first 25 minutes. Real Madrid has that championship DNA, can play a woeful first 25, then turn it on.
The poise to face up Courtois and dribble by the Real Madrid goalkeeper was impressive by Pulisic.
GOAL Real Madrid, and it's Karim Benzema (of course) with the equalizer in the 29th minute. Short corner, Marcelo ball in, Casemiro header finds Benzema, who hits the quick-strike turn and finish. 1-1, 30th minute.
Looking like Chelsea's getting Super Soldier Serum N'Golo Kante today with these surging runs out of midfield. Going to be a lot for Real Madrid to deal with if he's in that sort of mood today.
GOAL Chelsea and it's Christian PULISIC, dribbles in, gets around Courtois and opens the scoring. 0-1 Chelsea, 14th minute.
SAVE Courtois! Denies Timo Werner at the doorstep after a nice header pass from Pulisic to set up the German striker. Good save, but Werner needs to do better with that chance. 0-0, 11th minute in Madrid.
Christian Pulisic with the start for Chelsea in today's Champions League semifinal vs. Real Madrid. This will be Pulisic's fifth start in Chelsea's past six matches, and clearly the biggest to date. twitter.com/ChelseaFC/stat…
Manchester City beats Tottenham to lift the EFL Cup for the fourth straight time, and Zack Steffen makes one save to post the shutout and become the fifth American to win the trophy. Steffen's first trophy with Man City.
THUG ROSE!!!! Sleep and get slept.
Barco-Lazo is right. What a 🚀 N
That's why you have someone lay down behind the wall. LAFC opens the scoring EARLY vs. Seattle with an Eduardo Atuesta free kick that he rolls UNDER the wall and past Stefan Frei. Clever, perfectly struck. 1-0 LAFC, 3rd minute.
The #MLS Week Two slate kicks off tonight with Sporting KC taking on Orlando City, followed by enticing LAFC-Sounders and Union-Miami clashes on the schedule Saturday. Here is a closer look at Week 2, w/breakdowns, predictions, and the Week 2 Best Bet: sbisoccer.com/2021/04/mls-we…
Shouldn’t really come as surprise that Concacaf would focus on markets where it can fill Gold Cup stadiums & avoid COVID restrictions. Money talks. Still weird to see no games in the Northeast or California, but that’s the reality of 2021 pandemic life in the USA. twitter.com/GoldCup/status…
The Meth and Red Verzuz was 🔥🔥🔥. Bringing out EPMD just put it over the top. Headbanger, Da Rockwilder, Triumph, so many gems from a golden era of hip-hop. I’ll be 80 and still get hyped when I hear the Headbanger beat drotwitter.com/verzuzonline/s…5NP
And here is the @SBISoccer #MLS Best XI for Week 1, featuring three Sounders, two CF Montreal-ians, a #USMNT midfielder playing at left back, and more: sbisoccer.com/2021/04/chicha…

Here’s the Fox 5 piece on the short-lived Super League:
Manchester United supporters: “You know, the Super League wasn’t so bad after all.” twitter.com/sporf/status/1…
Florentino Perez when he walks into UEFA headquarters to apologize for the Super League:
Florentino Perez when the other teams back out of the European Super League, leaving Real Madrid to figure out how to pay off its Bernabeu renovations AND buy the most expensive players on the market:
And the first domino falls. RIP to the Super League. We hardly knew ya. twitter.com/RobHarris/stat…
“We are trying to save the sport kind of like Thanos was trying to save Earth.” FiorenThanos Perez twitter.com/bghayward/stat…
Just did a hit for FOX 5 in NYC talking about the European Super League with my man @danbowensfox5 . Felt good, no coughing, good convo. Think I'm feeling good enough to bring back on The SBI Show this week. And here's my mug for those who haven't seen it in a while:
