It was such an honor to be interviewed by my chum, Lindsay on @Table5Podcast. A terrific pod and top notch interviewer who get deep into the heart of chefs, restaurateurs and folk like me who still haven’t figured out what they do. Go listen & subscribe
@SimonMajumdar @rufc So very sorry to read this, a stark reminder of stupendous ignorance and casual hatred of the monoculture that often pervaded where we grew up. I stopped going to football matches after seeing the racism the players endured from the crowd.

You want to know how it felt like to grow in fear as an Asian/Anglo Indian in the 1970’s. #EndeavourPBS season #7 RAGA is perfect. Not a day I did not get called “P*ki” at school, by teachers, at the @rufc games. On public transport. Ignorant and not even geographically correct.
The very British & “of their time” chats between Detective Inspector Thursday and Detective Constable Strange on Endeavour are some of the most beautifully written little snippets on T.V. On the whole unimportant to the story, but genuinely smile inducing.
Does one think that the term “suffering from profound grumpy miserablism” is a way to describe British middle aged men to others? I’m working on an idea and think this might suit.
See the oppression inherent in the system (with apologies to Michael Palin) ✊🏼…D
Old photos can be a useful, often embarrassing look at the building blocks that made us. This is an early iteration (2000) of the much loved #simonstares. in Asturias, Spain. So much wrong. The shirt, my chest hair, an empty plate. But, out of this came a Knight of Flavortown.
I don’t believe in conspiracy theories. But, I am going to posit the choc digestives are “wagon wheel” style smaller than they used to be yesteryear. Now is this “same size, but you had kid’s hand” or are @McVities part of some worldwide conspiracy? I am setting up a forum.
I don’t know why it took me so long to buy those blindfold Bluetooth headphones, but they have changed my life. Full night’s sleep. Thanks to the complete darkness and Om Mani Padme Hum chanting low in the background.

D list actor + first class arse, Laurence Fox is banned from Twitter for changing profile to a swastika made of pride flags. I won’t share. He’s like one of the rude posh twats every school has that think they everything they do, however vile, is just jolly japes. FH and his kind
Receiving a kind note from @freshnet means the world to me. His songs, many supporting the gay community of the 70’s & 80’s in the UK were/are important. I’m straight, but I would always try to rewrite them (badly) as a kid, to word them for us UK Indians, Another bullied group.

@SimonMajumdar THANK YOU for those generous words of appreciation Simon... "You Tattoed Me" has been an emotionally important song for me over the years. Did you ever hear the longer rough demo it originally grew from? Quite different, with a few extra bits of the story:…

Every Brit of a certain age will look at this photograph and be taken back to one of the most truly beloved sitcoms of the 1960’s and 70’s. Dad’s Army. RIP Frank Williams, who passed at a wonderful 90. That show was such a family watch. Might be more so now that “we’re doomed”

I’m now on a roll listening to another hero, Tom Robinson @freshnet. His song “You Tatooed Me” is one of the most heartbreaking love songs ever composed. It still brings me close to tears every time I hear it. Thanks, Tom ✊🏼
Bless Twitter. Because of an exchange on here, I just spent an hour going down a glorious, joyous rabbit hole of one of music’s lost superstars and one of my heroes. Julian Cope, both solo and with Teardrop Explodes. You will thank me if you do the same.
So the results of the poll were, perhaps unsurprising. In descending order, The Clash (more than all the others combined) The Smiths, Joy Division and far too unrecognized, the magnificent XTC. Thank you for voting and the fun surrounding chat 👍🏼. Happier days

I still describe this putting two perfectly decent things together that should never ever be together as creating “The Power Station” on a plate. Might be fun for them. Certainly isn’t for us.…
@SimonMajumdar In descending order, XTC, Smiths, JD, Clash. I have, fortunately, seen New Order, and have tix to see them (and Pet Shop Boys) in the fall.

Oh, bloody hell #TheBoys. I need a shower after just watching it.
As a man who looks like a bucket of genetic detritus, there is something redeeming about looking at men who are inarguably “beautiful”. A young Elvis, a young Ali, Robert Plant fronting Zep in the 70’s. Nothing sexual. Just that notion of “well at least it wasn’t wasted”

I love when I delete & block folks on my SM sites and they contact me saying I have “impeded my 1st amendment”. For the record. You behave. You stay. You don’t behave. You leave forever. I am an occasionally benign dictatorship. You’re welcome. But, you have no rights.
I declare myself the British “Dunker Supreme” before whom every knee must bow. These are not cookies. These are not Southern biscuits (not sure how they came by that name - by definition they are not “Bi” - twice, “Cuit” - cooked.) Thanks @producergirl for the @McVities

@SimonMajumdar @EatMyGlobePCast That's because @EatMyGlobePCast is the best food podcast ever. I would like an order of cod and chips, please. Haddock, if no more cod. With salt and vinegar and a side of "curry" sauce. You?

I’m not the cook in the family but I made a rare visit to the kitchen today and tinkered with some kitchen equipment. Air fried chicken thighs and rice topped with Japanese curry. The hubby seemed to have enjoyed it, I think.
