Anyone out there a C# tips and trickster? Looking for the "cleanest" or "shortest" way to create an array of new instances - I end up doing this a bit and stumbled upon: Stack<char>[] stacks = Enumerable.Repeat(0, 10).Select(_ => new Stack<char>()).ToArray();

I am deeply NOT a morning person, but I AM currently jetlagged which gives me Fake Morning Person Super Powers (TM). Sadly I can report that I see why Morning People are so produtive. It's 11:30am and I've gotten a TON done. I'm ready to punch out and there's still 7 hours left

Not really, but still, kinda stressed.
Been at this company 15 years and I still get hella stressed when I've lost a receipt for the Expense Report thing. WHAT DO I DO NOW?! I'M GONNA GET FIRED BECAUSE I CAN'T FIND THIS RECEPT FROM SUBWAY SANDWICHES
Elon Musk told the United Nations that he would give them $6 billion to end world hunger if they showed him a detailed plan of how they would use the money. They gave him their plan, but they never got the money. Instead he bought Twitter for $44 billion.

So I’m hearing we will all use AI pics for our profiles and be a disappointment when we see each other in person. We’ll use AI for our work interviews and be a disappointment when we have to actually do the work. I’m seeing a lot of disappointment coming in the future.
I just had my first executive meeting so it feels more official now, but I'm super excited to join @TheOfficialACM as the Vice Chair of their Practitioner Board! Thank you to @shanselman for putting my name forward! Excited to see the org become more globally inclusive

ChatGPT is an AI that has mastered a unique human skill, bullshitting. It knows what the shape of a good answer looks like but often not the details. But we’re now learning that even technical people are happy with an answer that looks right instead of is right.

Where do you think the dataset came from? Destroy the human and the ML is trained on…what? AI is cool but pro tip - actually knowing stuff is cooler. twitter.com/castillo__io/s…
We need a term for something beyond “tragedy of the commons” when the extractive platforms try to kill off the sources they depend on to feed their models in the first place. The same thing the gig economy tries to do to workers, and equally short-sighted. twitter.com/castillo__io/s…

Then what good is AI anyway? #ChatGPT 😂V

This was very cool. A real-time video to PETSCII converter. The camera was rendering us in PETSCII, on a PET(!), as we walked by it. I love it. Now to get this on the #c64. 😄7

Are any of my followers hard of hearing? If so, is there anything you wear out in public that tells everyone “Hey, I’m hard of hearing but I don’t know sign language”? Communicating is definitely harder than it was before now!

This #3dprinting of Han Solo’s blaster came out looking so good. I used @Proto_pasta’s wood and brass for the details. Printed on a @PRUSA with Prusament for the black and silver. No sanding yet but it looks darn near perfect.
Great reminder from @shanselman today to wear your kicks not just look at them in boxes and tell folks how much they're worth. #Kobe

@shanselman Had to try this myself, gave me a bit of a chuckle, though it does make me a bit more concerned as to where this data is coming from, I hope it's not building off of other results / queries

Additionally, if AIs can churn out nonsense that isn’t fact, the next gen of large language model may get trained on their massive amounts of generated nonsense. #ChatGPT needs more transparency and we need to make sure we aren’t generating models on top of generated text.
I pressed “try again” and it gave me a Master’s Degree. 🤦🏻‍♂️
I’m as excited about #ChatGPT but let’s tap the brakes. It generates nonsense OFTEN. I didn’t go to these schools. I am not a musician. I do not have three kids. I was a prof but not at Portland State. NOTE - #ChatGPT is not a fact generator, it a PROSE GENERATOR
This is hilarious. None of these papers exist. #ChatGPT is making these up, with plausible sounding combinations of titles, journals, and authors. It is literally bullshitting.

Frankly #ChatGPT makes me so sad and disillusioned with NLP research. It's not the model not being available; it's not the fact that is trained on unknown data and methods; it's not the clear commercial priorities and marketing. But the combo of all three is such a blow 😔

I was not concerned about AI last week and I am concerned about AI today. Not in the "they're going to kill us" way, but in the "societies can adapt pretty quickly, but maybe not quite /this/ quickly" kind of way.

The job of a CEO is 1. Setting company direction. 2. Hiring and retention. 3. Making sure the company doesn't run out of money. Elon's run at Twitter hasn't shown great examples of any of these. Any CEO impressed by his bullying of employees & customers is telling on themselves

It’s the best corporate culture I’ve ever seen. Like I actually felt a loss when we moved to WFH it wasn’t just “hallway/cooler talk” we lost. And we've completely transformed the company culture with regard to open source and Linux. Which is why I went, what they said we'd do, and what we ended up doing. So that's a good reason to have stayed. The bad? Too much email, and our expense reporting system is kinda mid.
I've worked remotely from Portland the whole time. Built an entirely remote team. Seen folks of I've directly hired go off to do and build great things. I've gotten to work with and on Microsoft Band (RIP), Surface stuff, Windows Stuff (Terminal, WSL, WinGet), VS stuff, .NET, etc
15 years and 2 months. Since I've been there we've opened sourced .NET, it runs on Linux, in containers, on microcontrollers, and runs things big and little. We made VS Code, which is pretty popular. Xbox is cool, there's C# in a lot of games. Folks are cool, my bosses are nice. twitter.com/kateward/statu…
