There’s a lot more left to be done to pass commonsense gun safety laws and save American lives. But I’m proud that, after 30 years of gridlock, Senators from both sides of the aisle could come together and deliver for the American people.…
58 years ago, thanks to activists, lawmakers, & heroes of the civil rights movement, President Johnson signed the Civil Rights Act of 1964 – bending the long arc of the moral universe ever closer to justice. May we live up to their legacy by creating a more just America today.
29 years of academic excellence and a phenomenal source of pride for the First State. Happy Anniversary, Hornets!…
If you are hitting the road this weekend, drive safely and enjoy your Fourth of July travels! It’s on all of us to make our roads safe.
Good morning, Delaware! The First State’s enhanced plastic bag ban goes into effect today, so don’t forget to #BYOBagDE next time you go shopping. Thank you for doing your part to help reduce plastic pollution! 🌎…V
I’m so proud of the historic steps that @JohnCarneyDE and the First State are taking to strengthen our gun laws and protect our communities. When both Congress and states come together to pass overwhelmingly popular gun safety laws, we can save lives.…
Utilities have exceeded the emissions reductions goals called for under the Clean Power Plan. Still, we must do more. I remain resolute in my commitment to passing legislation that reduces greenhouse gas emissions across our economy. Our future depends on it.
While EPA’s authority to regulate emissions from power plants under the Clean Air Act remains law, the #SCOTUS decision is way out of step with reality. This ruling hampers our ability to reduce emissions in a rapid and cost-effective way, which is bad for our economy and planet.
Once again ideology trumps reality as this extreme court chips away at EPA’s ability to address climate change in WV v. EPA. 🧵…L
Yesterday, Delaware leaders took action to safeguard abortion access and enhance protections for health care providers and patients seeking care in the First State. I thank Governor Carney for this swift and necessary step to get women the care they need.

Justice Tamika Montgomery-Reeves is a trailblazer and an outstanding legal mind – the best Delaware has to offer.   I’m proud to support @POTUS’s nomination, and I know she’ll make a phenomenal addition to the US Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit.…
Methane pollution in the Permian Basin grew by nearly 33% in the first three months of 2022. 🤯 The technology for oil and gas producers to rein in emissions from this super pollutant exists. It's time to use it. (🔐…B3

Yesterday we heard further damning evidence that Trump knew his supporters came to DC armed, he encouraged them to march on the Capitol, and he actively tried to join them.   Cassidy Hutchinson’s testimony is a profile in patriotism. Now her former colleagues should follow suit.
.@HabitatNCC brings together new homeowners, volunteers & dedicated staff to build communities & provide our neighbors with safe housing. Proud my work with @ChrisCoons & @RepLBR will provide $1.5m to Habitat’s affordable homeownership program so this good work can continue!
It's pretty simple: more chargers support more EVs. Thanks to @POTUS' leadership, the private sector is dedicating $700 million to build EV chargers on top of our investments in the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law. That's good for our economy and planet.…
As my friend from Rhode Island likes to say, it’s time to wake up!…
The courage and solidarity displayed by members of the LGBTQ community in the wake of #Stonewall spurred a movement, inspiring us to live up to our nation’s promise of equality. 53 years later, it’s clear the fight for a more just and compassionate America is not over.
.@POTUS was right when he said SCOTUS’ decision to overturn Roe “must not be the final word.” That’s why I joined 32 of my colleagues urging the Administration to do everything in their power to help women access reproductive health care.…
Wonderful news carried on the green-speckled wings of a Hessels’ Hairstreak butterfly! 🦋 For the first time in 27 years, researchers at@nature_delawaree spotted this endangered species in Delaware. Surprises like this remind us of the importance of conserving wildlife.1
Western Sussex County residents will now be able to meet their health care needs wherever they live with @MyTidalHealth Mobile Van. My thanks to @RepLBR and @ChrisCoons for their work with me to deliver the funding to make this fantastic program a reality!…
On the anniversary of the Obergefell v. Hodges decision, it’s more important than ever to celebrate the LGTBQ community & the fundamental right of all Americans to marry the person they love. This right—protected by the Constitution—is under attack. We must fight back.
Heading to Rehoboth Beach this summer? Consider taking advantage of Rehoboth’s newly sustainable Park and Ride. It’ll help you avoid traffic and save on gas. 🏖️…i
This Supreme Court decision is unconscionably cruel and wrong. It strips away 50 years of constitutional precedent and upends the lives of millions of American women. It’s a dark day for our country and our Constitution.…
Tonight, I was proud to join a majority of my colleagues to pass the first commonsense gun package in nearly thirty years. While this bill doesn’t include everything we need, it's a good start — one that will save lives and reduce gun violence in our communities.
Today we celebrate 50 years of #TitleIX—half a century of women & girls knowing that, whether in the classroom or on the playing field, their success won't be denied. We can never forget the trailblazers who made this law a reality.
Donald Trump tried to use Justice Department officials not as independent fact finders, but as partisan surrogates to legitimize his Big Lie. Why? Because there were no facts to find. By any means possible, Trump wanted to steal power from the American people.
I'm thrilled to see the Biden Administration team up with governors across the East Coast, including Delaware, to boost offshore wind. This partnership will reduce emissions, lower energy costs, and create good-paying jobs—a win-win-win.…
At a time when Congress is working to pass the first gun safety bill in 30 years, this decision is a historic failure to protect the very Americans whom the Constitution serves. And make no mistake: this will make it harder to stop senseless acts of violence across our country.…
For all the First State parents and families who have been counting down the days during this pandemic: the day is finally here.💉 Kids under 5 are now eligible for the COVID-19 vaccine! Find your closest vaccination center here, and get vaccinated
The bipartisan gun safety bill breaks a nearly three-decade impasse, makes it harder for dangerous individuals to possess dangerous weapons, & incorporates some of the bills I’ve worked on to invest in youth mental health. But most importantly, this bill will save lives.
Thank you @EPAChemSafety Assistant Administrator Freedhoff for testifying before the EPW Committee today. The law requires @EPA to regulate toxic chemicals and protect Americans' health. We must do our part and provide the agency with the resources it needs.

Always great to see my friend Sam Calagione—owner of Dogfish brewery, a vibrant small business in Sussex County, Delaware. Nothing better than a summer weekend day spent at @dogfishbeer. Unfortunately, today’s meeting was (sadly) too early for us to enjoy a 60 min IPA!
The GI bill has helped generations of veterans—including this naval flight officer and proud @UDelaware grad—come home and create a brighter future for themselves and their families. On the 78th anniversary of the GI Bill, I’m forever thankful.

I’m glad that @POTUS is exploring ways to lower gas prices at the pump. Still, suspending the primary way that we pay for infrastructure projects on our roads is a shortsighted and inefficient way to provide relief. We should explore other options for lowering energy costs.
Donald Trump couldn't win, so he tried to cheat. When he couldn't cheat, he tried to intimidate. If not for the brave Americans who decided to stand up for our democracy, he might've succeeded.   I'm grateful for the officials that defended our democracy.…
Thank you to Delaware’s educators for inviting me to speak during the “Democracy Project” program this morning before I headed to Washington. This program offers professional training and resources to teachers in our schools.
Millions of Americans are starting off this summer under record heat. We need to wake up in Washington and pass a climate bill before dangerous heat waves become our new normal.…
Big thanks to @SenatorCarper @BillCassidy @RonWyden & @MikeCrapo for drafting bipartisan #youthmentalhealth legislation. We appreciate your strong leadership to support our nation’s youth during a critical time!

Today, I joined my fellow Delawareans to commemorate Juneteenth. But, as we celebrate the progress we’ve made, we must remember that our work is far from over. We will only achieve a more perfect union through our continued commitment to advancing equality and justice for all.
#Juneteenth is a day for Americans to remember the pain of our nation’s original sin, and commemorate the emancipation of enslaved Black men and women in the US. But it’s also a time to confront the stains of racial prejudice still present today. And we all have a role to play.
Wishing a very Happy Father's Day to all the dads, grandfathers, & father figures in Delaware and across our country! I've certainly had a lot of jobs over the years, but being a dad to Chris and Ben will always be my proudest.
It was great to stop by Millsboro's Tailbangers dog treat bakery and meet with Lisa St. Clair — @SBA_Delaware's Small Business Owner of the Year. Delaware's dogs don't know how lucky they are!
Little did they know it then, but the people of Lewes gained a lifelong champion the day Ted Becker moved here in 1981. An Army veteran, small business owner, and – of course – a dedicated mayor. Mayor Becker: Lewes and all of Delaware are grateful for your service!
Every American deserves water that’s safe to drink. I’m calling on the Supreme Court to uphold the long-standing protections in the Clean Water Act.…
7 years ago, 9 innocent Black church-goers in Charleston were murdered by a white supremacist. Today, we’re still fighting to root out hate from our communities, and to prevent weapons of war from killing our neighbors.
