Things that give me PTSD after my block was looted: Tomorrow there is an anti-vaccine rally on the Santa Monica Pier and the city is preparing for violence between protestors and counter protestors. Please, everyone, stop the literal and physical madness.
The NBA is requiring vaccines for referees, as negotiated with their union. Still no requirement for players, as that must be collectively bargained with the NBPA.
I am praying for everyone in the path of Hurricane Ida. I am praying that her winds slow and devastation is limited. If you are in her path, please stay safe.
This is awesome. JR Smith is a golf student-athlete at NC A&T. I give him all the credit in the world for going back to finish his education. I also believe he can teach the student-athletes great life lessons and prepare them for life during and after the game. twitter.com/therealjrsmith…

Here is the last screenshot of the books I’ve read this year.
Here’s a look at the books I’ve read so far in 2021. Life is too short to read things you don’t like, so if I finished it, I recommend it. I started and quit probably 10-15 other books.
One of my New Year’s resolution this year was to read 30 books. Today, I achieved that goal. New goal: Read 52 by December 31. The bigger goal: Finish my book proposal by 9/1 and read my own book by the end of 2022.
It is wild to think it was not too long ago that Buckeyes players were punished for being paid "too" much for their summer jobs at a car dealership. It's nice to see the free market play out. twitter.com/NBC4Justin/sta…

I met a friend for breakfast this morning. The restaurant had a sign reading, "The world is short staffed right now. Be nice to those who showed up." More than ever, kindness is needed. We have an opportunity to respond with the peace we wish for in the world.

I'm building a brand development class for @PepperdineWaves. To help find their "why," I’m asking them to list 3 things they hope others say about them at their funeral. Often, it helps to start from the end of what you want to find your “why.” What are your 3 things?
Today the WNBA and WNBPA announced that WNBA moments will debut on Top Shot, giving fans an opportunity to collect the top WNBA moments as NFTs.
One of my favorite quotes. Don’t forget this. Don’t play small.
I just finished reading @ATTACKATHLETICS’ “Winning.” If you care about being great or achieving your full potential, this book is a must-read. Tim sells it straight and doesn’t sugarcoat what it takes to win. As someone who worked with Michael Jordan and Kobe Bryant, he knows.
Fanatics is crushing the trading card game, first overtaking Topps’ MLB deal and now, Panini’s NBA deal. The company is showing it can disrupt traditional sport markets. I’m curious how Topps and Panini will respond.
Headed to my 1st in-person work meeting in at least 530 days. Wow. Such a strange time we are living in! The new semester starts next week. I get to teach in a mask & be tested weekly. I’m grateful for my job & colleagues who worked tirelessly so we can return in-person safely.
Here’s a look at the spot MLB created to honor Miguel Cabrera for his 500th home run, which was hit earlier today. mlb.com/video/congrats…
I am spending the day building a name, image and likeness educational experience for @PepperdineWaves student-athletes. I'm excited for the opportunity to help them understand how to build values-centric brands and personal missions that can extend well beyond college!
Happy #NationalRadioDay! From segments on Radio Row during the Super Bowl, a weekly segment on San Francisco’s KNBR and many guest appearances on national and international radio, I’m grateful for how radio has helped me build a career and many great friendships.

My great uncle is 102 Born during the Spanish Flu pandemic I asked him what was the most life changing invention of his time I expected air travel, microwaves, TV, or internet. He immediately said, “Vaccines”

In the last six months I have written 144 pages of academic research papers. My undergraduate self hat tips my 37 year old self.
"As iron sharpens iron, so one person sharpens another." This Proverb cited by @GoSydGo, highlighting her relationship with Dalilah Muhammad, shows the need to be surrounded by those who sharpen our skills, belief in ourselves & understanding of what's possible. #MondayMotivation

For the first time in Dodger history tomorrow, the team will wear Dodger blue jerseys and pants, as part of Nike’s City Connect Series Uniform. The uniform honors the team’s Latino fanbase with ‘Los Dodgers’ on the uniform cap and jersey front.
I have family living under authoritarian rule and they would be appalled by those refusing free and accessible Pfizer and Moderna vaccines, or screaming at a school board meeting that masks are tyranny.

Four children in TX lost not one, but two parents to COVID. Both were unvaccinated. Their dead mother’s final wish was that her kids get vaccinated. If you are still unvaccinated, you are playing Russian Roulette with a virus that doesn’t care about you. washingtonpost.com/nation/2021/08…
Fun fact: Before it was Blue Moon, it was called Bellyside Whit, a beer brewed inside of Coors Field beginning in 1995. Coors Field was the first stadium to have a brewery inside of it.
Today my friend Rafer Johnson would have been 87 years old. He was one of the greatest and most impactful men I have ever met. Thank you, @LA84Foundation, for remembering his legacy. la84.org/exhibitions/ra…

The WTA has named FanDuel its first authorized gaming operator. It marks the first time a women’s sport will have video highlights throughout FanDuel’s digital platforms and sports books.
This is me & my 71-year-old dad @KeshaRose⁩ concert last night. He watched the RBG documentary a few years ago, heard one of her songs & became a huge fan! In retirement he spends hours/week jamming out to her on YouTube. I’m guessing he’s her oldest fan. Great show & memory!
This is so heartbreaking to watch unfold. twitter.com/Malala/status/…

If you are looking for a trusted way to support earthquake relief in Haiti, I highly suggest the KORE Foundation. They have people on the ground ready to deliver resources and help with relief. I trust them deeply with how they use and allocate resources. facebook.com/donate/3777447…
If you’re a praying person, please pray for Haiti, as it experienced a 7.6 earthquake. To put this into perspective, the January 2010 earthquake was a 7.2. The kids and friends I love in Port-au-Prince are safe. Waiting for updates from the KORE Foundation on their team.
Rest In Peace to one of America’s greatest songwriters, Nanci Griffith. I’m so glad my father introduced me to her music. She didn’t mince words. If you haven’t, listen to, “It’s a Hard Life.” m.youtube.com/watch?v=P8kPv3…
Pollo Tropical has partnered with the Miami Dolphins to become the team’s official chicken. I approve of this partnership.
Getting ready to buy a home in LA. I try to keep a positive attitude, so I’m choosing to find this hilarious. Tomorrow I’m going to ask my dad if he will just sell me his shed.
Just walked by a party for The Bachelor. This is a big statement for someone who has lived in LA and Miami, but I have never seen so many attractive people in one place.
I’m so grateful this is my home.
