Had a sensitivity read done on sections of my manuscript, which comment on colonialism, gender, Islamic scientists and more, and I can't recommend it enough.
Received really thoughtful and valid feedback which I'll work on incorporating. So happy I did it.

This makes me tear up every time. The science that made my child is absolutely mind-blowing. I've written about it in my new book 🔩.

Ten years on, the toxicity of this school impacts loved ones and me. I witnessed and experienced sexism, racism, antisemitism and bullying. I encourage others to formally share their experiences. Let that 300 become 3000 voices. twitter.com/ellajessel/sta…
There was an audible gasp today from the response to my question about Wellcome disaggregating figures from BAME to Black. The response being Black people receiving research funding cannot be disclosed as the number is so low that to disaggregate would deanonymise the data. 1/n
Having one of those moments of wondering whether to start a huge new project, or take some time to myself.
Ordinarily, I would jump onto big project. But, I think for once, I need to hit pause.

It really stark how much less energy I have since pandemic, catching covid, and child. I go into town, do some work, then need to basically sleep for two days....
Spoke to an immigrant WoC who interviewed for a job as a structural engineer.
Interviewer walks in and asks - any UK experience? She says no, but... "oh, I told the recruiter, no more of those".
With 17 years experience, she gets offered a graduate package. (She declined.)
Thank you to the Jhalak Prize for being an advocate for marginalised writers.

Hey, friends? That feeling of overwhelm is a natural reaction to a very deliberate divide and conquer strategy. So what do we do? We show up for each other, even—especially— when we’re not the targets of injustice. Tend your fires, because others need that light, too.
