China was one of the only global markets to have fully recovered it’s retail traffic from 2 years ago. However from May-August retail traffic is down ~30% from two years ago. Retail does NOT have it’s pre-covid traffic back.
At peak of pandemic, restaurants lost nearly $51B/mo of sales to grocery stores. In July the gap has closed to $4B in sales. Restaurants sales for the past two months are higher than two years ago. Almost a full recovery. census.gov/retail/index.h…
