Good day to remember Maryland Senate failed to advance bill to enshrine reproductive rights in the state constitution. Would have put the issue on the November ballot. Passed the House 93-42. No vote in Senate before session adjourned apnews.com/article/busine…

Worth noting: Maryland’s gas tax is an excise tax, not a sales tax, meaning that it’s not paid at the pump but further upstream in the supply chain. So lifting the tax only affects prices if gas stations & fuel distributors pass on the savings from cheaper supplies.

This story about suspending the gas tax is a good example about how seemingly straightforward policy proposals can be more nuanced than they initially seem -- even when there's near-universal agreement in principle. capitalgazette.com/politics/bs-md…

PCR test because neither of us has symptoms. But honestly haven’t been able to find rapid test options either, so I’d take those tips, too.
Question for the Baltimore-area twitter-verse: Just learned my very young infant and I had a possible COVID exposure on Wednesday. Any tips on where I might get a PCR test for either of us before Monday? Ideally somewhere outside for my daughter so I don’t expose her more.

So bottom line: Never renovate your house. It’s not worth it. (Or if you do, make sure you hire someone competent.)
Those are really just the highlights. But the worst part was the gaslighting. They would make promises — about design plans or deadlines — then pretend the conversation never happened.
They did such a bad job painting 2 bathrooms that they had to bring in a painter subcontractor to fix it. Some of it was unfixable — like where they painted the side of our white vanity turquoise and intentionally painted over metal pieces that weren’t supposed to be painted.
They hit the side of our house while parking on our parking pad. We watched the guy do it and then walk into our house without saying anything. When we asked him about it, he said he didn’t do any damage. (He was wrong.)
They used the wrong color metal end pieces on the tile in one bathroom. When we flagged the issue they yelled at us and told us we picked out the wrong color and refused to fix it. They later admitted it was the tile store’s error.
They also cracked both mirrors while installing them but said they came cracked.
We splurged on recessed, mirrored medicine cabinets with outlets inside. They connected the outlets to the light switch so that the outlets only worked with the vanity light on. They had to uninstall and reinstall them.
