Over 13,000 responses to our summer childcare survey. In light of a pretty depressing announcement expected from the Government tomorrow on their plans to reduce costs we need as much data as we can get our hands on. Please complete pregnantthenscrewed.typeform.com/SummerChildcare
A Survey for a Sunday 📝 ! We know summer childcare costs are particularly tough on U.K. screen industry workers - both freelancers & PAYE and those in between. Share your experience here with the indomitable@PregnantScrewedd 💪 who need data to take to government ⬇twitter.com/pregnantscrewe…cM
Paul Moreland wants to tax the childless as a way of increasing birth rates. FFS. How about we create a world that actually works for mothers - affordable childcare, flexible working as the default, properly paid & ringfenced parental leave - there’s a few ideas to get you going twitter.com/katbrown/statu…
Trigger warning: giving birth during the pandemic. Yesterday, our CEO gave evidence to the London Assembly. She read out some of the stories we have received. Here is a short clip. If you want to watch the whole session then it’s here (starts 1 hour in) youtu.be/mHGelaC4jbE
NHS statistics out this week demonstrate how that midwife numbers are continuing to plummet in England.
The staffing crisis is causing restrictions in choices about where, how and with whom someone chooses to give birth – and this often results in lasting impact and trauma. twitter.com/MidwivesRCM/st…
I’m not normally in to whataboutary, but knowing the behaviour tolerated in Parliament and then seeing this decision being made is absolutely infuriating. How about focusing on the sexual predators and bullies, and stop putting off women? twitter.com/BBCNews/status…
The Committee was largely made up of men. They stated that they consulted with other external groups, but we are unsure who these groups are. We were not contacted, despite recommendations that they consult with us.
Something we have raised repeatedly with @ipsaUK but has been ignored. Until we make Parliament work for mothers then we will continue to see few mothers standing for election, this is bad for our democracy.
THREAD: Really disappointed by the @CommonsProcCom review into whether MPs can bring their baby into Parliament. The issue is not whether babies should be allowed into the chamber. The issue is that MPs need proper parental leave cover.
Ask @PregnantScrewed - having children, caring for them and developing your career and earning potential without skipping a beat is not supported. Not much of an incentive for a generation of women who are no longer only defined by their physical ability to bear children. twitter.com/jameskirkup/st…
Currently only women in Northern Ireland have protected human right to an abortion in law. I will be tabling amendment to forthcoming UK bill of rights to guarantee this for all UK women. If you want your MP to vote for it - as will be free vote- tell them! #nowforUK
1) please join us on the 29th October for our protest - March of the Mummies where we will be demanding affordable childcare, properly paid parental leave for all parents & all jobs to be flexible: pregnantthenscrewed.com/event-march-of…
Thread: Like many of you, we are so desperately sad about what is happening in America. The anger will come, but for now, we feel utterly bereft. This violence against women and our bodies, on our right to choose, is misogyny in its purest form.
@PregnantScrewed I’m lucky in that I would bring home a small profit (after childcare costs) if I go back full time, but I’m not sure I can stomach the thought of working full time for the equivalent of <50p an hour 😬
With my childcare expected to be around £1,700 a month if I were to go back full time… I would need at least a £43k salary at the bare minimum to just survive. £66k salary to live comfortably. Just bc of childcare… Is that not crazy?!! twitter.com/PregnantScrewe…

To put the expense of childcare into perspective, almost two thirds of families in the UK say they spend more, or the same amount, on childcare as they do on rent or mortgage payments, according to a survey this year by @PregnantScrewed, a lobbying group, and @MumsnetTowers.
81% of men with children aged five and under said in a recent survey that childcare benefits would be a “very important” or “somewhat important” factor when deciding whether to stay with a company or switch to another mckinsey.com/featured-insig…
