Back in NYC for Crack o' Dawn Walkin' with @mnitabach. Lots of good conversation about @HHMINEWS #FHScholars.
Always love the $10/$100/$1000 genomes discussion. Always seem to assume you don't need to do any sample QC, nothing ever needs maintenance, bioinfomatics is done in thin air and people work for free. 😂

Rockefeller's @leslievosshall has been elected to @AmPhilSociety! Her studies examining how mosquitoes use olfaction and other cues to select their human hosts have deepened our understanding of basic neuroscience, with important implications for public health. Congratulations!

I just learned that the founder of modern neuroscience, Cajal, published most of his own work in his own journals. He was from a scientifically isolated place and most scientists didnt speak Spanish. Instead of allowing circumstances to stop him, he got his work out himself. twitter.com/OdedRechavi/st…

"Prestigious" & "peer reviewed" publications are important mostly for (1) post docs and (2) untenured professors because hiring and promotion committees can't judge the quality of the papers. If we solve this (not easy) we can just post our work online and live happily ever after
