I’m continuing this fight here on the ground with local branches of @PPact, @AbortionFunds & @ACLU. Help Texans directly by donating to 9 Texas abortion funds here:
Our show highlights the small businesses that hire the very same women, BIPOC ppl & low-income folks that these laws harm most. Only 11% of Americans believe that abortion should be illegal. The govt doesn’t have the right to force ppl to carry an unwanted pregnancy to term.
Texans are up against so much right now- a hateful anti-abortion bill, erasure of voting rights, and a humanitarian & Constitutional crisis at the border. Houston is one of the most diverse cities in the U.S. Its govt & the majority of its ppl oppose @GovAbbott's heinous bills.
“Lyrical and mesmerizing” and “like honey on hot toast” are some of the ways I can describe my convo with @PadmaLakshmi all about intergenerational relationships through culture and cooking. Listen now…

New variants are thriving where vaccination rates are low. It’s inhumane and dangerous to limit access to vaccinations. We need vaccine equity now. @UNDP #UNGA #VaccineEquity #AShotForAll
“U.S. officials over the last few days had let migrants cross back and forth” in the river. Many families are seeking asylum & bringing food back to their encampment. Yesterday U.S. Border Patrol said they would be unable to return if they ventured to Mexico for supplies.…
Is whipping migrants seeking asylum part of our border policy now?…
Michaela Coel saying (paraphrasing, apologies) that "in our world visibility seems to equal success, but don’t be afraid to disappear and see what comes to you in the silence" is everything. EVERYTHING. #emmys

What a difference a year makes. Mourning the loss of this incredible feminist. Not all warriors carry swords. We cannot squander all she stood for. We cannot let dominion over our bodies be handed over to lawmakers and religious zealots. #BansOffOurBodies #RBG @ACLU
Me infiltrating the Bean Club to share the gospel of beans:…
Stunned, shocked & saddened that this is the first I’m hearing of the Bean Club. Gotta go lay down for a while & reevaluate some things…
I had the honor of guest editing the October issue of @EatingWell 🍅 This was shot in Chinatown, blocks from my home in NYC… a neighborhood that has preserved its food traditions, while second, third & fourth generations have continued to reinvent
“‘Oh, it’s sumac,’ she purred with a small smile. She explained it was used in traditional Persian cooking. It looked gorgeous, like crushed garnets, and glistened deep burgundy against the yogurt sauce.” More here:

In her opening remarks Simone Biles called out Nassar’s enablers directly: “USA Gymnastics and the United States Olympic and Paralympic Committee knew that I was abused by their official team doctor long before I was ever made aware of their knowledge.”…
The compounded trauma of that is enough to make anyone want to stay in bed indefinitely (which would be entirely understandable). But they came together to testify at this hearing, calling out the @FBI for their negligence, lies & refusal to apprehend a serial child molester.
I cannot overstate the emotional resilience of these young women. They were molested for years by someone they trusted only to report it to the @FBI, have it dismissed & have the perpetrator run free & then continued to perform at an Olympic level in the place they were abused.
That @FBI agent, Michael Langeman was fired only *two weeks ago* while W. Jay Abbott quietly retired in 2018. They and other agents lied to investigators to cover up their catastrophic errors in handling the Nassar case. Read the full report here:…
"In 2015, when Ms. Maroney was 19 years old and before she had even told her mother what Mr. Nassar had done, she described her abuse to an @FBI agent during a three-hour phone call...When she finished, Ms. Maroney said the agent asked, 'Is that all?'"…
Instead of doing his job to apprehend a serial pedophile molesting Olympic athletes, former Special Agent in Charge, W. Jay Abbott of @FBIIndianapolis used his proximity to @USAGym in the Nassar case to *apply for a new job* with the U.S. Olympic Committee…
In July 2015 the @FBI had direct reports from survivors that Larry Nassar was sexually molesting children. They let the case go cold for over a year, not reporting to state or local authorities until it came out in the press During that time Nassar molested 70 more young women…
