I sit with a deep sense of shame for the consequences of this unfocused shameful exit from Afghanistan. So sad at our blood and treasure who lost life and limb. Forgive the rest of us for not demanding more of your leadership.
Bless you all brave warriors.
Doing a river trip here in Pennsylvania.
Heading to Michigan next for two sold out stand up performances at the Traverse City Opera House. Very nervous as I have been off stage for over a year. Wonder if government agents will be policing comedy from the back of the house.
Free will is my creator’s ultimate gift. Just like a baby who turns to a parent and says no. I so often say no and do what I will here. In a quiet moment this creator had me look around and with a grin whispered: “So this the best you can come up with?”
What a year. Today my family and I reminded each other we were inside this time last year and the area we live in was deserted except for a little ice cream store. May pay a visit. Prayers to all those we lost and all those who suffered. Feel blessed to be here with all of you.
I am learning the importance of letting go, my unrealistic expectations create my resentments. I read a quote that resonated, “we will be amazed before we are half way through. We are going to find a new freedom and new happiness”
My guide for me today.
“The expression of true humility is a willingness to serve others without expectation of reward, prestige or recognition for our services to them. Make it happen in a spirit of cheerfulness and joy .” -Chicago, Nov 1949
Difficult feelings as I sit with my real family ready to say goodnite to the Last Man Standing family we created and lived for all these years. Years that flew by. Heartfelt thanks to all you who watch our work . I will miss being Mike Baxter.
Each day is a gift and I was given over 1500 of them over 9 wonderful years working on this show. I miss it already but am forever grateful that I will always have the memories. @LastManStanding#Tomorrow
Context is everything. I got my youngest our first puppy for her birthday. Yesterday she said the vet called wanted me to bring the puppy in. “And bring a stool sample.” Weird but ok. I handed everything to reception and got a strange look. “Oh, you meant a sample from the puppy”
