I’ve been an Air Force PAO for 24 years. My first 15 years, I viewed spotters as pesky annoyances. I’m so glad I came to my senses. Spotters are not only some of the military’s best message communicators, they are also now my friends! @jetcitystar twitter.com/Aviation_Intel…

This is how to engage the spotter community and leverage them via common interest. They are assets, not threats. Aircraft spotter thanked by F-15E Pilot after altering him to malfunctioning jet: thedrive.com/the-war-zone/4…

This is some fantastic flying by a student pilot, who made the best out of a bad situation. It’s also extremely fortunate that he was able to find a suitable patch of grass in a residential area that quickly. youtu.be/PTrLxkVOShg

Ground Stop for EWR, and we’re hearing the airport is essentially closed after lightning struck 4L/22R. With 4R/22L closed for construction, that leaves only the short Runway 11/29 available. Currently only a ground stop is published. #GrabAHotelRoom
While JFK seems to be relatively unscathed by thunderstorms so far, the same cannot be said for the other NYC airports. The @JetTipNet Diversion Tracker shows 3 diversions from LGA and 22 from EWR so far. EWR, TEB, and LGA all have ground stops right now. #GrabASnickers

This is an excellent question. The extreme temperatures increase the density altitude, resulting in lower aircraft performance. That means the longest (but intersecting) runways must be the primary for arrivals and departures. That limits the rate. faa.gov/air_traffic/co… twitter.com/wannabehocker/…
