Yes, huge thank-you to Dr. Rosann Seviour through a challenging time. Always appreciate the strong local and provincial public health collaboration in NL. And welcome back Dr. Fitzgerald! twitter.com/CMOH_NL/status…
Always feel like this is one of the most evocative signs ever created.
Still time to sign up for TODAY'S phone zap for federally legislated paid sick days! 4:30 pm ET twitter.com/DecentWorkHlth…
I have used this @OttawaHealth document on Stigma and COVID-19 throughout the pandemic. It's an excellent resource. People are not just "cases" -- they are people who test positive for COVID-19, and so much more than that. ottawapublichealth.ca/en/public-heal…
Along with Maria Dussan and Apoorv Singh of the Anti-Racism Coalition of NL, we talk about the intersection between: - the rights of people who are migrants/international students - health care for all - paid sick days. #nlpoli twitter.com/DecentWorkHlth…
Everyone deserves access to universal, permanent, seamlessly accessible, and fully #PaidSickDays for them to be an effective public health intervention. The federal and provincial governments must move to legislate 10 paid sick days for all workers. springmag.ca/health-workers…

Dr @Monika_Dutt says healthcare is centrepiece of Premier @TimHoustonNS's mandate. Effective #PaidSickDays is a critical health intervention in NS. Workers only have 3 *unpaid* days right now‼️ By bringing in 10 #PaidSickDays, @JustinTrudeau can set a clear benchmark for NS.

Today, health workers across Canada are calling on PM @JustinTrudeau to keep his promise of legislating 10 #PaidSickDays within 100 days of re-election. A month after the election, his government has 70 days to deliver on this commitment. More from our press conference👇👇👇

Looking for a place to stay for a few nights in December within 2-3 hours of Burlington, ON. Requirements: A desk to write at, a kitchen, and a peaceful view -- water or forest would be ideal. Any recommendations?
The US will accept mix & matched #COVID19 vaccines for entry...very helpful to many Canadians who received this safe/effective approach. "...any combination of two doses of an FDA approved/authorized or WHO emergency use listed COVID-19 two-dose series." bit.ly/3p9Bujm

I only knew Graham Mitchell briefly through his time with @broadbent, but his humour, kindness, and dedication were clear. @johncraigie's Dissect the Bird was played at his memorial and I have had it on repeat. So sorry that Graham is gone; thankful for the legacy he has left.

I asked where I could find a large map of Newfoundland and was sent this. It’s bigger than my window…and my child :) Thanks @derektilley321!
Sharing this public post by the mom of the girl who spoke up when my son was called a racial slur. Thankful to her, although it’s telling that the only one to speak was a kid who knows racism personally. I hope I/we can raise kids who counter hate. facebook.com/515100290/post…
Thanks for all the encouragement and advice from knitters. I have detangled (with a few snips) and am ready to start my shawl. I’ll post about this again when I’m done…or in 3 years…whichever comes first. twitter.com/Monika_Dutt/st…
Not the kind of message you want from school, your child being called a racial slur.

This graph makes clear the lack of legislated, permanent paid sick days in Canada. The same workers that lack paid sick days are usually the same ones who can't afford to take unpaid sick days because of job insecurity and income deprivation. 1/2

Any knitters out there who can help me save my first knitting project in years that I may have ruined before even starting? I have a total tangle and despite reading blogs and watching online videos, I am stuck.
Reminder: No off-trail wondering.
Not retweeting the very bad take in the globe today on “woke psychiatrists”. It’s inflammatory, rude, and badly written. Also note the tactics used by those in power; no provision of evidence to back up claims. Use of perjorative lang (woke, SJW) to discredit others.

I’ve learned so much from psychiatrist colleagues, including those at @UnityHealthTO, who are experts at caring for their patients AND making connections to the broader societal and structural factors that influence mental health and mental illness. Glad you do what you do.
👏 Absolutely! The public health RNs have been the hidden heroes throughout this pandemic and they’ve played a vital role again in the response to clusters in Central.twitter.com/Monika_Dutt/st…Q

We know how important #PaidSickDays are to keep our communities safe and healthy. Gig workers who are employed by apps like @Uber_Canada, @lyft, and @DoorDash don't even have access to basic employment rights or programs like the temporary paid sick days. #MakeGigWorkDecentWork

In addition to the needed focus on the immense work that nurses do in NL caring for patients, I want to add on that public health nurses have also put in countless hours throughout the pandemic. Without them, there is no pandemic response. #covid19nl @MartinJonesCBC @RNU_NL

Hello NL! I'm looking for a large, detailed map of Newfoundland and Labrador for my wall. Suggestions for where I can order one from?
I’ve continued to use the @capebretonymca when open during the pandemic, given the precautions being taken. But I was glad to give my proof of vaccination today knowing that everyone else in the gym was fully vaccinated.
After going virtual last year, @CabotTrailWrite kicked off its 2021 in-person event last night. It was a wonderful evening of readings and the energy that comes from a live (with precautions!) event. This year’s focus is on Nova Scotia writers — so much talent in this province.

Completed this course as a requirement for renewing my MD license in NL. Glad to see explicit recognition that colonialialism is embedded in medicine and deliberate effort is needed for change. (Suggest having course fee go to an Indigenous organization rather than the college.)
Went back and forth between @CBCNS and @CBCNL radio this morning, and now listening to the Atlantic-wide coverage. Have found the stories, music, and history informative, personal, honest, fascinating. Thanks to all who have shared their experiences. #Reconciliation
The common thread all along has been @StrangRobert and his team. His leadership, empathy, compassion and ability to engage and listen to people is what has kept Nova Scotians going. It’s what has kept us safe. twitter.com/amydempsey/sta…

TRC Day is coming up and here is your challenge. Find 10 new Indigenous accounts to follow. I'm not going to recommend any. You do the work. Find 10. Follow them. And here's the important part. Do not respond to anything they say. Read. Listen. Find 10 more.
