Dangerous rhetoric is gaining ground among some in the United States, and in many other countries, that people of different races and from different countries are a problem and not an asset. This goes against everything I believe in, and all that the Gates Foundation stands for.

The people killed in a Buffalo supermarket, Atlanta spas, an El Paso Walmart, a Pittsburgh synagogue: They all were an important part of this country and enriched it.

I’m horrified by yesterday’s massacre in Buffalo and the racist and anti-Semitic sentiment that has driven it. These killings come days after shootings at Asian American businesses in Dallas that police are also investigating as hate crimes.

Sweden has been a global pioneer for ODA and gender equality, making it an explicit, fundamental aspect of its foreign policy. Thanks to @AnnLinde, Fanna Ndow Norrby, and @LinaT for such a great conversation about the importance of listening to women’s voices in times of crisis.
Around the world, @gatesfoundation’s Goalkeepers work to advance the #GlobalGoals, from ending poverty to fighting inequality. We couldn’t ask for a better group of advisors to help them do it. #Goalkeepers2030 m-gat.es/39SILyj
Encouraging news: In the last few weeks, Maryland and Delaware have both enacted #PaidLeave policies. twitter.com/NPWF/status/15…
One of the most uplifting parts of my trip to Germany has been meeting with @ONEDeutschland youth ambassadors, who are urging government leaders to support the @GlobalFund and help combat AIDS, TB, and malaria—an inspiring and worthy cause. twitter.com/ONECampaign/st…
Congratulations to Magnify Ventures—and the entrepreneurs behind them—for leading the way toward a care system that works for everyone. m-gat.es/3P5Kmkz
Missing moments like this one today. They grow up faster than you think! Happy Mother's Day, everyone.❤️
When women have the power to determine their future and decide when they have children, it saves lives, promotes health, expands education, and creates prosperity.
Throughout history, women have been robbed of the power to control their own lives, economic resources, and health. Restricting access to reproductive health services for women across the nation would continue that dangerous and inequitable cycle.
Every woman should have the right to decide whether and when to have children. This is not a decision that any government should make for a woman – it is a personal, private, and often emotional choice that women must be able to make for themselves.
When we invest in childcare, we invest in women, children, and the economy. The @gatesfoundation is proud to partner with the @WorldBank Childcare Incentive Fund, launched today, to help governments around the world design childcare policies and programs that work for everyone. twitter.com/WorldBank/stat…
We can achieve a #LongLifeForAll. From smallpox to COVID-19, modern vaccines have changed countless lives. For every like, share or comment on this post, UNICEF partners will unlock $1 for our lifesaving vaccine programmes up to $10M.

Thanks to the collaboration between governments, scientists, partners, and health workers, millions more children will have access to pneumonia vaccines in India and around the world. @MoHFW_INDIA #LongLifeForAll m-gat.es/3Lrxumk
Thanks to this women-led door-to-door vaccination campaign in Pakistan, 6M people received their first dose of a COVID vaccine in just 10 days. As we celebrate #WorldImmunizationWeek, let’s lift up the integral role women play in fighting disease. m-gat.es/3Oxt1R2
Women and adolescent girls bear the worst of malaria's societal and economic burden. By creating pathways for women to be decision-makers and increasing investments in the fight, we can achieve a double dividend—#EndMalaria and advance gender equality. twitter.com/ZeroMalaria/st…
When women and children thrive, communities and economies flourish. This message is at the heart of @theGFF's work, and I was delighted to join @AwaMCollSeck @MariamAbdou2 and @TheoSowa to discuss the GFF’s growing impact.
By building up care economies and cash transfer programs—and using data to track our progress—we can come back from the pandemic more prosperous, prepared, and equal than we entered it. Thanks to @MasoodCGD, @JKlein46, and @ZShamsuna for such a thought-provoking talk at @CGDev.
As leaders come together for the @WorldBank spring meetings to address urgent challenges, they must not overlook informal women workers. These women can be the engine of our global recovery—and the backbone of a more #ResilientFuture. m-gat.es/3jTHRU4
Wishing hope, joy, and renewal to everyone celebrating today. Happy Easter!
When money flows into the hands of women, everything changes—families benefit, communities transform, and economies improve. By shattering this glass ceiling in venture capital, @SallieKrawcheck and the @Ellevest team are helping us all reach new heights. twitter.com/SallieKrawchec…
Thanks to @BrkThroughTech's new program for college students, more women are getting the training and mentorship they need to gain access to careers in AI. I can't wait to see how these students transform our future. m-gat.es/37b34Ge
Families keep telling us they can’t work without child care, especially women in countries hit hardest by COVID-19. It’s encouraging to see some world leaders listening. Thank you @SvenjaSchulze68 and @BMZ_Bund for giving this topic a platform at @G7.
Congratulations, Judge Jackson, on becoming Justice Jackson. You’ve said you stand on the shoulders of Constance Baker Motley, the first Black woman to serve as a federal judge. Now, future generations will stand on yours.
In my experience, the most important conversations happen at the dinner table, not in the board room. Thank you @AnitaZaidi, @findingpneumo, @catherinenyamb1, @daktari1, for this meaningful conversation on pandemic-related inequities and how to end them. m-gat.es/3Kccv6u
What if we could save 150,000 more lives globally? Kangaroo Mother Care, which encourages skin-to-skin contact between a mother and her newborn, could do exactly that. Sometimes the most powerful public health interventions are the simplest. m-gat.es/3DHmKNR
When it comes to contraception, everyone has different needs—and local family planning programs are often in the best position to meet them. Excited to see @Amref_Kenya and @Pop_Council Nigeria lead @FP2030Global's new African hubs. twitter.com/FP2030Global/s…
As we celebrate #WHM, it’s easy to imagine moments like women’s suffrage or Title IX’s passage as foregone conclusions. But history didn’t just happen—people made it happen. I teamed up with @CBSMornings to highlight three leaders making history today: m-gat.es/3iTWmqc
.@ava has powerful advice for young women who want to take a bold next step or start something new: “Begin. Don’t wait for permission to begin. Just begin.” Watch our full conversation: m-gat.es/3usfPUu
It's hard to be what you can't see. I love this #WHM exhibit from @IfThenSheCan and @smithsonian, which honors modern-day women innovating in STEM. I hope it inspires young women everywhere to imagine themselves as the next trailblazers. m-gat.es/3ID3BgH
The @gatesfoundation is committed to eradicating preventable diseases like tuberculosis & we know a fully funded @GlobalFund could prevent 2 million TB cases over the next three years #WorldTBDay twitter.com/trevormundel/s…

As a pioneering force behind the Moderna vaccine, @KizzyPhD is committed to fighting vaccine hesitancy—or as she likes to call it, “vaccine inquisitiveness.” She shared more about her approach during our @CBSMornings #WHM conversation. m-gat.es/3ID7P7W
Her work, leadership, and wisdom will echo for generations to come.
The world lost one of its luminaries today. Madeleine Albright advanced our country’s highest ideals of freedom, democracy, and human dignity. As the first female U.S. Secretary of State, she never stopped inspiring women to use their voice.
We know that empowered women transform societies, yet the data show that the path to true equality is still years away, missing the mark for #SDG5. Progress is still possible—but only if we put women at the heart of policies, programs, decisions, and pandemic recoveries.
I sat down with @ava to hear more about her ongoing efforts to support diversity and inclusion in the film industry through her company @ARRAYNow—a great way to round out this special #WomensHistoryMonth series on @CBSMornings. twitter.com/CBSMornings/st…
.@BRACworld has been a close partner of the @gatesfoundation for more than 15 years. As #BRACTurns50, I’m celebrating the work they've done, the lessons they've shared, and the future they are working to build. twitter.com/BRACworld/stat…
As we celebrate #WomensHistoryMonth, we must also acknowledge that we remain more than 200 years away from gender equality. We can’t afford to wait that long. In my interview with @USATODAY’s @suzyscribe, I talked about ways we can accelerate progress. m-gat.es/35XphXS
When it comes to advancing gender equality, the best solutions often come from local communities. @coimpactcollab understands this issue, and I’m proud to join with other donors to learn from and invest in those working to advance global gender equality through the #GenderFund. twitter.com/coimpactcollab…
If you’re looking for a role model this #WomensHistoryMonth, look no further than @KizzyPhD. Not only was she instrumental in developing the Moderna COVID vaccine, her commitment to science and brilliant outlook on life are nothing short of inspiring. twitter.com/CBSMornings/st…
I recently sat down with @CBSNews@jamieyuccas and @aijenpoo, a labor activist leading the fight to reform our country’s broken caregiving system. We covered the #CareEconomy, its impact on women and families, and the opportunity it holds for our society. m-gat.es/3vWjfBi
Women often tell me that child care is one of their greatest barriers to earning an income. Jashodaben Pravinchandra understands this reality all too well—she struggled to manage care and work until a child care center helped her create a better future for her family.
To celebrate #WomensHistoryMonth, I'll be sharing trivia about some amazing trailblazers both past and present. Keep an eye on my Instagram stories for our first clues. ➡️ m-gat.es/3CwptZC
