Jamie Overton bats 5 for Surrey in the Blast, regularly has the highest strike rate, and bats more than he bowls. Not surprised by this innings at all. #ENGvNZ

Talking of which, since getting one of these from @PassPixi I’ve had zero close passes. From a guaranteed 1+ per day commuting to date. The simplest innovations are the best.

The quality of Surrey’s bowling attack is remarkable. So many options. So much variety. Narine. Don’t think Jacks, who is a good t20 offie, has bowled even an over yet. #SurreyCricket
England so outraged over Lord’s ticket prices they have resolved to get as many fans as possible refunded. #ENGvNZ
England determined to get my fourth day tickets refunded. #ENGvNZ
Topley, Curran, Narine outstanding tonight. But Jacks was the only player on either side who really batted. #surreyblast

The electoral support for LTNs in this week's elections is as significant to the future of active travel in the UK as the opening of protected cycleways on the Embarkment in 2016. We will look back on Thur 5th May 2022 as a milestone. The future's bright -🚶🏾‍♀️, 🛴, 👨🏽‍🦽 &aSCC58Jf

Is there a ward anywhere declared so far that could plausibly be claimed to have been won on an anti-LTN agenda?
Either way, this is a pivotal election result for active travel which should embolden councils willing to make these changes. And it should also be an impetus to move on to tackling the real issue that blocks roads in the Dulwich area -- school run traffic.
The other potential explanation is just as dispiriting for LTN opponents -- it's that people who oppose LTNs don't dislike them enough to change the way they usually vote, or to ignore national issues. It's weak opposition, and just not that salient.
The likely explanation is that the extra turnout wasn't people voting against the LTN -- it was the many people who quietly support these measures (but who don't make a big thing of it because they don't like being shouted at) voting to retain it.
The Tory candidates campaigned almost exclusively on their pledge to remove the LTN -- it dominated their material and they declared this a single-issue election. The turnout went up significantly -- over 60% in a local election. And the Tory vote went DOWN on 2018.
The Dulwich Village ward results really demonstrate that LTNs are *much* more popular than the volume and intensity of social media opposition would have you believe. This wasn't just a hold for the pro-LTN incumbents, it was a big win, against a well-funded single issue campaign…
@RantyHighwayman A big turnout in Dulwich where there’s been a divisive local campaign about LTNs - with the antis getting trounced 😎…t

The Labour councillors received twice as many votes - in a very high turnout - than either Tories or LibDems in Dulwich, so that’s a clear vote in favour of LTNs.…
