It’s a new dawn for our politics with women leading the way. Australians voted and changed a nation. This is an unstoppable force now. It’s exhilarating. It can deliver real climate action and we can all be part of accelerating that. #ImReady

It’s a beautiful day to vote for new leadership! There are so many important issues this election, but we are at such a critical point for climate action, and it must be at the forefront. Know where your candidates stand on climate, and happy voting! #AusVotes2022

With an election looming, we have an opportunity to vote for strong climate policy, and we must. The Liberal National Party has got to go.
The Australian government is funnelling our taxes directly into the pockets of the coal, oil and gas industries and subsidising the continued expansion of fossil fuels. Meanwhile the Conger Ice Shelf in East Antarctica collapses.
I'm posting this because we are in a climate emergency and we don't have time to vote for leaders who are in denial about the urgency of climate action.
As I write this, we are waiting for the flood to peak and recede before we can know the full scope of the damage. I’m not posting this for sympathy, Mum is supported by friends and family and we are in a better position than many.
The government is ignoring the irrefutable science and calling this a "one in 500 year event". Yesterday as flood waters rose, the Federal Government announced a 35% cut to climate spending.... I'm at a loss.
The following pictures are Mum and I two days ago, lifting what she managed to salvage in the first flood and preparing to evacuate her home for the second time in 30 days.
The first picture was taken four weeks ago outside my Mum's home in Lismore after furniture, clothes, family treasures and childhood memories were engulfed by flood water.
I’ve been hesitant to share these pictures because of how intimate this feels, and how exposed our community is. But these floods have been a wake up call and some things need to be said.
❗️ LISMORE LEVEE OVERTOPPING IS IMMINENT ❗️ THE SIRENS WILL NOT SOUND DUE TO MALFUNCTION. EVERYONE MUST GET OUT OF THE CBD IMMEDIATELY.

If you are in Lismore CBD, evacuate now. Sirens are not working and will not sound. Surrounding towns flooding with no evacuation orders. be vigilant and stay safe. Heartbreaking. twitter.com/smh/status/150…
A simultaneous 30°C anomaly in the Arctic and 40°C anomaly in the Antarctic, among the most terrifying events scientists have recorded, was a footnote in the bulletins. One celeb slapping another: headlines everywhere. This is the way the world ends, not with a bang but a bant.

THREAD: For anyone interested in a dose of reality, read this post from a Lismore flood helper "The flood in Lismore was 2 metres higher than any previous records. Two metres is the difference between ankle deep water and water over your head, and that’s on the second storey.

Here in my northern rivers home watching the rain beat down. If we flood tmw as predicted it will be the 2nd time in a month. Towns like #Lismore evacuated again. Morrison’s tired line that this is a once in 500 yr occurrence is dead in the water. We need #ClimateActionNow

I simply visited homes with mould in Lismore and I have been sick for an entire week. These people are LIVING in them. I visited old people who never left their flooded homes because they had nowhere to go. This is cruel & absolutely can happen to you. theguardian.com/australia-news…

'It’s an absolute joke': Locals in Lismore have reacted to the arrival of Prime Minister Scott Morrison to their flood-hit suburbs. Some say his arrival is 'too late'. Others want to see government action.
