the only thing this proves is that there is absolutely demand for intelligent, funny, heartwarming movies out there. audiences are not dumb. they are not mindless drones. they want good stories. whether it's profitable to build a global machine to market them is another story
thor: the dark world didn't make $200M because it's that much artistically better than EEAAO it's not even (just!) because disney forces deals on theaters, or blogs don't shut up about it there's something beyond that. call it marketing, mindshare, machinery, whatever
none of this is to take away from EEAAO's success, not by a long shot i've never seen a movie get so much word of mouth, and especially not one so deserving of it but the metrics we use to talk about the success of big budget movies are divorced from everyone else's reality
despite this, it has (so far! it's still not done!) not outpaced The Punisher from 2004, which was also rated R i...i think there's more to it than just disney's theatrical deals and people talking on twitter
a lot of ink gets spilled over disney taking up all the theaters or all the attention in the Discourse but so far, EEAAO is at least holding its own on both. it's constantly (thankfully) in the news, and it's facing miraculously low drops week over week. it's staying in theaters
this is a resounding success, but also damn does this really highlight how incredibly difficult it is to market theatrical releases…
sometimes i don't play video games because i know that i have a job to do and i have to do that job before i can make time for all the things i want to do i am the guy who was paid to review the balldo…
when democrats try to secure midterm votes, they do it by considering thinking about maybe doing the bare minimum they could possibly do to make some people's lives better when republicans do it, they competently strategize to ruin as many lives as possible
any technical problem whose only solution is "we just have to get everyone to agree to do X" is a problem that has no solution
a core chunk of the argument in favor of NFTs is that they are immutable and permanent that's fundamentally incompatible with the idea of migrating everyone to a new chain, just because you didn't consider the problem of txn fees for *years*
"some other blockchain doesn't have this problem!!" a.) most other chains don't have the same problems because they're not at the same scale 2.) if your argument is that an entire fundamental element of the economy has to be migrated to fix basic problems like txn fees...bruh
normal companies in real economies don't have to issue apologies to the entire ecosystem simply because they did a half billion in sales yet there are still people who insist this is the future
Apropos of nothing, eBay has been able to run auctions for over 50,000 items simultaneously without requiring $100M in transaction fees for over 20 years. Another reminder of how blockchains are a massive step backwards as a consumer technology.…

imagine if you got the check after dinner and it turned out visa charged you $3,000 to use your credit card because somewhere out there, a bunch of nerds were buying the morbius funko pops that just dropped…
between MEN and NOPE, it's a great time for tense, scary trailers that break the tension with their own title
this is the funniest moment in no way home
the leaked scene that showed andrew garfield in no way home was from the scene where they're trying to figure out if tobey maguire's webs work like jizz
if they'd had a VFX artist paint out suitcase guy, folks would use it as an example of how marvel overuses digital effects…
Please don’t make me defend the MCU but seriously it’s a minor continuity error, those are normal and I don’t really care. Masterpieces have continuity errors, and I’d rather they have one than pick the worse edit.…

honestly might fold this into the moon knight video because the justifications for NWH's plot have to stretch but put it next to how MK handles it? and it's SUCH a better approach too complex for twitter tho
i think dock ock needing a cure works. for norman, i'm once again tired of the "mental illness means person becomes violent" trope but it's so tacked on i can barely count it hard agree on flint tho! he did nothing wrong!…
i'm not saying it ruins the movie or anything, but the plot does hinge on spider-man deciding, unilaterally that the villains need to be "cured" which is something that only really works as a plot point for doc ock
that and doc ock are the main ones. but it handwaves all the villains. "They all have their own mental or physical issues." which is not only weird because three of the five are perfectly coherent, they just have powers, but it's hilarious coming from a dude with spider powers…
man, the way no way home tackles mental health gets so much worse when you put it next to moon knight
a key indicator this is all bullshit: if most people really could pay $60 for a game, put 500 hours in, and sell what they made for $1,000, publishers would want to be the ones profiting the most off of that, not handing the bulk of this allegedly massive economy to their users
"when I'm ready to move on to something else, wouldn't it be great to monetize that?" this is not how normal people think of video games and the people who do think of video games this way are not the kind of people most people want in most games…
hell sounds like a shitload lot of editing tutorials and music videos
i frequently leave youtube videos open in tabs, convinced i will come back to them later when i have time today, as punish for my hubris, i accidentally discovered the shortcut that refreshes all my background tabs at once i have heard hell with my own ears

true story: when i was (briefly) in college, our group was making a short film and we wrote a (very poorly written) story about someone getting kidnapped and called it "Taken" one year later, Taken came out which makes this tweet a direct and personal attack on me, specifically…
i have sworn a blood oath to collaborate with @YepItsZak on anything involving animorphs or moon knight i have literally no idea wtf this script is gonna be or when it even could happen, but i can announce with 100% certainty that zak will be involved in it
fuck, i think i'm gonna make a video about moon knight

Unreal Engine 5 is the future of filmmaking
fun fact, if the achievement in the original game had been ten years, you still wouldn't be able to get it
very seriously considering making this my new banner image
sure strapping 100lbs of lead to my legs forever sounds exhausting, but it's okay because if i ever need to run from a bear i can just let go of some of the lead also i live in a place that was recently mauled by a lot of bears in this metaphor…
i would say that i'm available for brand consultation, but quite frankly, my fees are astronomical
this gaming headset lasted just over 14 𝘤𝘰𝘯𝘵𝘪𝘯𝘶𝘰𝘶𝘴 days real missed opportunity to call this headset the HyperX Fortnight
i'm not entirely sure when it died today, but based on the last time i knew for a fact it was running: start: 4/12 at 10:14PM end: 4/27 at 1:23PM total logged hours: 348.5 (allowing for a few minor gaps throughout)
