A huge thank you to everyone who was a part of our #QueerJoy event: our lovely BSL interpreters, panellists and guests!
One of @cademacaskill's favourite lines of the night: @not_television's description of queer fun as "an underground training ground for utopia" #QueerJoyy
If you've seen anything you're curious about during our live tweeting, we're currently asking questions of our gorgeous panel! Pop any questions to us here using #QueerJoy
Adam shared a clip from the inspiring 'Anywhere Is A DanceFloor' with us. You can buy the song on @Bandcamp (…) where 100% of profits will go to LGBT refugee projects. #QueerJoy
You can check out all of Adam's amazing work at 🌈#QueerJoyoy
Adam is currently working with @CambJunction to create ways of making positive creative spaces for queer kids and young people! #QueerJoy
Adam sees pride as about other people, but joy as about ourselves #QueerJoy
At the moment, Adam is thinking about what the world would look like if the concept of shame had never existed. More than moving beyond shame, can we imagine a world where it never was? What would that look like? #QueerJoy
There are 2 sides to Adam's work: a side for queer audiences and a side for all audiences. Their creative work covers transformation, occupation and demonstration, invitation and celebration #QueerJoy
Adam is working on "A Manifesto for Queer Joy": something to guide their own work as an artist but which will also be publicly accessible! You can follow them on Instagram @ fattbutcher for updates! #QueerJoy
We're back with #QueerJoy! Adam Carver, who performs in drag as Fat Butcher, is speaking now! They're chatting about how we use joy as a way to affect change
Do you have any experiences of 🌈queer joy 🌈you want to share? Whether big or small, you can tweet it to us usin#QueerJoyoy!
Our #QueerJoy event is having a quick comfort break and listening to some amazing tunes from @sacredpawsltd 🌈🎶🎸
A shout out to the wonderful @QueerTheoryGla for their online events during the pandemic from @oasissy1#QueerJoyy
Annabel is now talking about an "enormous source of #QueerJoy": @oasissy1. They describe the fun of developing "ridiculous characters" and taking them out onto the streets, none of which would have happened without Dive Queer Party.
The movement of Dive Queer Party was fuelled by generosity, joy and fun from all those participating and giving their time to the night. @oasissy1 describes the "forcefield" of #QueerJoy surrounding all those involved.
.@oasissy1 is talking about transformative, life changing #QueerJoy as part of the Dive! club night in the 2010s and its origins in a non-queer space made joyful by wonderful performers in Edinburgh
.@oasissy1 is sharing a "joyous powerpoint" full of memories and pictures, starting with a picture of themselves at 8, who they describe as "a queer little creature" confident and joyous in themselves. #QueerJoy
Now we're hearing from the amazing @oasissy1, aka Agent Cooper! They're speaking about the challenges and the necessity of now as a time to celebrate #QueerJoy
Dancing is what Frankie missed the most, and the project explores footage of real bodies dancing (to pop, disco and techno) and bodies in a VR space. They tried to emulate the spontaneous fun of a night out in a virtual space ✨#QueerJoy
Frankie is discussing their pandemic project "Living in the Space In-between": a 3-hour one shot take of dancing and disco filmed to recreate and remember the #QueerJoy of being able to dance with friends and chosen family
It's time for Frankie Mulholland! An amazing choreographer and club performer, part of Vogue Scotland and new queer club Bonjour in Glasgow! They're sharing a short clip of their dance work #QueerJoyy
Rachel is also a zine maker! They describe the joy of creating something tangible that can be passed around and used as ways to educate and learn. They give an example of a intro to guitar playing zine given out to people of colour during @decolonisefest #QueerJoy
Being on stage playing music is a powerful feeling for Rachel (who has played in incredible bands like @TRASHKITT) and they hope that the confidence it gives them inspires others to take up instruments and play music to celebrate #QueerJoy
One of the lines from Disco II by Special Interest ("you plain janes, looking at me funny") really speaks to queer energy for Rachel. Something in your face and confrontational as well as cathartic #QueerJoy
The brilliant Rachel Aggs is on now, and sharing some fantastic music from punk band Special Interest! They shared the video because it represents all that they're missing right now about queer culture and #QueerJoy, particularly the variety of queer bodies featured
"This sense of queer hope and queer fun, and this hope for better worlds, giving ourselves permission to find new ways of creating and relating, helps us build revolutionary futures and #QueerJoy" @not_television
.@not_television is sharing a video clip of Bette Bourne and the Festival of Light. In 1971 Bette and the Gay Liberation Front disrupted the church-based morality campaign 'Festival of Light' in a fantastic display of radical queer fun wrapped up in political action #QueerJoy
.@not_television describes "queer fun" as building "queer muscle": the less pressured space of fun-making and fun-having gives us the opportunity to practice joy and build community to change things for the better #QueerJoy
Ben says that fun is often seen as trivial: that if something is fun can't matter, and that if it's fun it can't be serious. But fun, because it exists with less scrutiny, can give space for creative, queer ways of being! #QueerJoy
.@not_television describes "queer hope" and "queer fun" as the hors d'oeuvres of #QueerJoy. Sometimes hope is small things like getting out of bed and out for a walk, and sometimes it's big things like lobbying for change. Small steps can create better futures.
Folk are giving wonderful shout-outs to things like seeing #Pride flags displayed in neighbourhoods, local icon @CategoryIsBooks, getting married and the joy of seeing queer friends and family thriving. #QueerJoy
The chatbox of #QueerJoy is next up! All our amazing panellists (including the fab @oasissy1 and @not_television) have submitted one of their favourite queer, joyful songs and our community chat is having a bop while writing their experiences of #QueerJoy
We've started our #QueerJoy event! @cademacaskill are introducing themselves and their proudly, fiercely queer creative work 🌟✨ Head over to their page to look at all the amazing things they're up to!
Starting in half an hour: Queer Joy! A #PrideMonth online event celebrating the joy queerness brings, hosted by the wonderful @cademacaskill 🌈
