If you have flu like symptoms and your rapid test is negative, you might still have Covid. If the test is repeatedly negative, it might not just be a cold. Flu has increased and it’s happening, so be aware. This is not just here in Allegheny county. alleghenycounty.us/uploadedFiles/…

3) Create a #Safety #Monitoring #Committee to investigate the growing number of #PAXLOVID rebound cases.
IMO the @US_FDA should: 1) Include a #warning on #PAXLOVID’s potential to drive immune resistance to HIV-1/AIDS treatment. 2) Request providers to ask for a NEGATIVE HIV-2 test before giving patients access to this drug.
Using PAXLOVID can lead to immune resistance to HIV-1/AIDS treatment in people with undiagnosed infections.
PAXLOVID is NOT to be mixed with several other commonly prescribed drugs for common conditions like heart disease.
PAXLOVID is an effective form of treatment for people already sick with COVID but with a limited number of people who can take it. It has strong interactions with many essential drugs that are safe on their own but dangerous when taken with #paxlovid.
PAXLOVID failed to prevent household infections in a large clinical trial conducted by Pfizer.
PAXLOVID is a multi drug combination therapy using 1 antiretroviral used to treat HIV/AIDS & 1 antiviral to treat SARS-CoV-2.
PAXLOVID is not FDA approved. It’s available under “Emergency Use.”
I have been asked by friends & followers what is real about #PAXLOVID given so much marketing & fairy tales, here are ACTUAL the facts:
@CharnessMichael @PaulSaxMD I don't know how to report this in any official way, but I also had a rebound case. Positive and symptomatic 4/19, started Paxlovid, improved. Negative 4/25. Symptoms returned night of 4/27, positive again 4/28.

The @US_FDA should include a clearer warning on PAXLOVID use for the risk of HIV-1 ttx resistance development in individuals with undiagnosed infection AND REQUEST AN HIV-1 TEST BEFORE ADMINISTERING THIS DRUG
By definition of immune resistance, using PAXLOVID w/out other antiretrovirals could serve as functional monotherapy and potentially lead to the development of resistance to HIV-1 protease inhibitors im ppl w undiagnosed HIV. That’s why
Using RITONAVIR, an effective part of #PAXLOVID for COVID can be harmful if you have an undiagnosed HIV infection. RITONAVIR is an HIV-1 protease inhibitor & a potent CYP3A inhibitor, because of that
The challenge is that using RITONAVIR alone can open the doors of immune resistance against HIV. RITONAVIR is an antiretroviral protease inhibitor that is widely used in combination with other protease inhibitors in the therapy and prevention of HIV infection and AIDS. Using it..
NIRMATRELVIR, an antiviral agent targeting SARSCoV-2, must be used in COMBINATION with RITONAVIR. According to Pfizer’s studies, NIRMATRELVIR must be co-administered with ritonavir & failure to do so may result in insufficient therapeutic effect. The problem is
Paxlovid is a multi-drug regimen that includes an antiretroviral drug used to treat HIV-1. The good news is that treatment of symptomatic COVID-19 w/ NIRMATRELVIR plus RITONAVIR resulted in a risk of progression to severe COVID-19 that was 89% lower than the risk with placebo but
Paxlovid failed to prevent COVID in a robust clinical trial of >3000 pts. Now we know for sure it DOES NOT prevent infections. While it was effective in treating people already sick, prescribers should perform an HIV test before prescribing it, here is why 1/x twitter.com/erictopol/stat…
