This afternoon, @LAPDWestLA officers worked closely with event organizers to facilitate a peaceful march and assembly. The end result was hundreds of Angelenos exercising their First Amendment rights, with no reported issues.
LAPD Mounted Unit officers on patrol came across a woman who was pale and unconscious. Through their training and experience they quickly identified she had overdosed on drugs and administered NARCAN. Minutes later she was responsive and alert. Service comes in many forms.
LAPD Mounted Unit officers on patrol came upon a frantic mother, who had accidentally locked the car with her infant still inside. They quickly sprang into action, and with the help of a community member, were able to unlock the car and return the infant to the mother's arms.
Paramedics responded to the scene and evaluated the infant, found to be in good health. The mother was very appreciative of the outpouring of help from the officers, fire department & community members. LAPD & the community partnering together to help Angelenos in times of need.

LAPD is monitoring a protest at the south lawn of the LA City Hall. We are on scene to maintain order after a fight broke out. We are aware of 1 male that was stabbed & is being treated by LAFD. No arrests have been made but investigation is on going.

Recently a group of motorcyclists rode around LA as a mass, violating rules of the road by running red lights, exhibition of speed & driving on the wrong side of the road, placing everyone on the road in danger. End result: 30 day impound, arrest and another gun off the streets.

On the morning of June 26, @LapdHarborDiv responded to a call of a woman seen climbing over the Vincent Thomas Bridge. Upon arrival they observed @CHP_HQ and @LAPortPolice working to pull her back to safety. Great teamwork resulted in her receiving the help she needed.
Earlier today, Chief Moore and several members of the LAPD were honored to participate in "Let's Bridge The Gap". C.W. and Chris Fish & Chicken, a restaurant in South LA since 1992, served free meals to the community, while members of the LAPD joined in conversation & growth.

The LAPD is aggressively addressing a rise in violent crime in the Melrose area over the past year and is pursuing all leads involved in this and other crimes. Anyone with information on this crime is urged to call Wilshire Robbery Detective J. Maloney at (213) 922-8216.
Suspect -3 - is described as a male, Black and is the driver of silver/grey Dodge Avenger -suspect outstanding. No further information.
Suspect-2 - Markeil Hayes 28-year-old from Los Angeles. Hayes was booked for Attempt Robbery, and currently on Parole. Injury sustained a gun shot wound to the right calf.
The suspects have been identified as: Suspect -1 - Nicholas Brown 22-years-old from Los Angeles. Brown was booked for Attempt Robbery, and currently on Parole. Injury sustained gun shot wound to upper left thigh.
The suspects who attempted the robbery were apprehended by officers a short time later and found to have suffered non-life-threatening gun shots wounds.
Words were apparently exchanged, and the victim ultimately produces a handgun, apparently to defend himself and others in his group from the would-be robbery suspects. The victim fired his weapon towards the suspects and then all parties immediately fled the location.
On Monday, July 19, 2021, around 7:10 p.m., two suspects exited from an idling Dodge Avenger near Melrose Avenue and Vista Street and confronted the victim with handgun in hand.

Suspect-2 is described as an 18-20 year-old male Hispanic, stands approximately 5 feet 8 inches tall, and weighs 145 pounds. He was seen wearing a black hooded sweatshirt with a large square print on the back, tan or grey pants, and black shoes.
Suspect-1 brandished a firearm & shot Penaloza killing him. The suspects fled through the parking lot in an unknown direction. Suspect-1 described as an 18-20 yr old male Hispanic, 5'6" 200 lbs pounds wearing gray hooded sweatshirt, black shorts & black shoes with white trim.
Two suspects entered the business, walked directly to the beer display and took a case of beer each. Penaloza confronted the suspects as they attempted to flee without paying. A brief struggle over the beer took place.
Murder Suspects Captured on Video Surveillance On July 15, 2021, around 8:40 p.m., the victim, identified as 36-year-old Los Angeles resident Miguel Penaloza, was working as an employee of a business in the 4000 block of Eagle Rock Boulevard in the city of Los Angeles.
