New: companies selling location data on visits to abortion clinics. We know because we just bought some data for $160. Could be used to see clinics being visited by people from across state lines. Threatens both the patient and clinic. The risk is real. vice.com/en/article/m7v…

The assault on reproductive freedom is atrocious for most people, but Black women are more likely to seek abortions, more likely to die from pregnancy-related causes, and more likely to be criminalized & imprisoned for their pregnancy outcomes. Then the state violence spreads.

I clerked at the Supreme Court. Last night, I assumed a liberal clerk leaked the draft opinion overturning Roe. Now I think MUCH more likely it was leaked by a conservative fanatically committed to every word of Alito’s monstrous opinion. **🧵**

Alito's draft declares that, inter alia, the right to marry a person of a different race, the right to contraception, and the right not to be forcibly sterilized, all lack "any claim to being deeply rooted in history" – which is the same reason he overrules the right to abortion.

So ML-generated artworks are ineligible for copyright protection - without a human "creative contribution." But where's that line? Selecting the training data? Defining the objective function? This will get messy. Ruling is here: copyright.gov/rulings-filing…
Wow - the human/AI interface is about to get weirder. US Copyright Office just ruled that works "autonomously created" by algorithms cannot be copyrighted. This is the work they rejected:
