NEW: Pakistan wants to be treated like an ally, not a scapegoat, National Security Adviser @YusufMoeed tells me in an interview washingtonpost.com/opinions/2021/… @PostOpinions
The DC national security establishment is not trying to "punish" Biden for ending the Afghanistan war. For two weeks, the SINGULAR focus I've seen is hundreds of people trying desperately to save their Afghan friends' lives, and mostly failing.
Pelosi on Moulton and Meijer's trip to the Kabul airport: "It was not, in my view, a good idea." Says it's a drain on precious resources and dangerous. "This is deadly serious. We do not want members to go."
Biden people be like: "We are not getting enough credit for half cleaning up our own mess," and "All critics of our incompetence are war hawks" and "Focus on the number of people we didn't condemn to a cruel death, not the number of people we did." Puh-lease.
