Wow wow wow thank you so much for this 15 year retrospective! So many lewks. twitter.com/TKTS/status/15…
Attention New York City friends, fam, fans, fashionistas & foodies. I’m playing @RockwoodNYC this Saturday night, June 18th at 8:30 PM. It’s my birthday weekend and I’m ready to bury 37 alive in the dirt. So naturally there will be much to reflect upon. Join me! Tix link in bio.
Twas a real trip to be back onstage at Radio City Music Hall on Sunday at the Tony Awards with my old friends from the cast of Spring Awakening. Kinda made me want to do another musical in New York City…⚓️ twitter.com/sweptawayfans/…
Crying on the elliptical at the gym listening to a podcast about the making of a Japandroids record. Let the sensi-bro summer begin babayyy! #CryingTourOfNYC
I’m playing at Berlin in NYC this Saturday. Lots of sad new songs to play for you. Will I cry onstage and add the venue to my #CryingTourOfNYC? Come find out!
Excited for my summer plans of crying in every corner of NYC. Already did the G train a few weeks ago. Last night I crossed the C train and Jay St-MetroTech off my list. I wonder what’s next. So many possibilities. #CryingTourOfNYC
Was walking in the park and two tween girls kicked a rock at me and laughed when I turned to see who did it and it was in that moment I realized I’ve become that certain kind of aging dude that laughing tween girls kick rocks at in parks and honestly it tracks. #Humbled
Love to look alive on NYC’s #1 local outlet. Thanks for having me on! twitter.com/NY1onstage/sta…
It only took 8 years but my therapist was finally like ok we’re gonna need to do a double session next week.
I had a really great time chatting with Connor and Dylan for their Drama podcast. I don’t think anybody has ever actually been excited to talk to me for that long before. Thanks so much for having me on! twitter.com/thedramapodcas…
‘SPRING AWAKENING: THOSE YOU’VE KNOWN’ premieres tonight at 9 PM on @HBO and @hbomax. I’m mighty proud to be a part of it.
Is losing water weight from crying a legitimate thing? Asking for a friend.
I casually asked the cashier at my grocery store how he was doing and he said not well and I was like oh man me neither I’m so sorry and we told each other to hang in there and to get through the day and it was a very refreshing and real exchange.
The ‘Spring Awakening’ reunion show last November was such an epic and special night. I’m so glad more folks will get a chance to experience it in May on HBO. MORITZ LIVES! twitter.com/DEADLINE/statu…
Night 1 of my Mini Monday April Residency at @RockwoodNYC kicks off tonight in Stage 1 at 10 PM. Old songs. New songs. Sad songs. Sadder songs. Even sadder songs. No cover. 21+
Without looking at me, eyes fixed ahead, he quietly said, “Perfection John.” Then he walked on set. It was said with the same dry sardonic drawl I had loved when I first saw his work in films as a kid. I think about this funny and surreal moment whenever I see him on screen. RIP.
When I was 16 I made my TV debut in a Hallmark Hall of Fame movie that starred William Hurt. My first shot of the production was of a large group leaving a church service. No dialogue. I was very nervous. When I cleared frame, Hurt was waiting off camera to enter the scene.
One more week at sea. Come bid us farewell and adieu. twitter.com/SweptAwayFans/…
🚨To mark 2 yrs of the pandemic, I wrote about the sheer scale of death, and how/why so much of the US has normalized to it. The official toll nears 1 million. The NYT called 100k deaths an “incalculable loss”. What is 10 times incalculable? 1/ theatlantic.com/health/archive…K

I’ll be playing a Mini Monday Night Residency next month at New York City’s own @RockwoodNYC in their newly reopened Stage 1. Come listen to me sing super sad songs like it’s 2007 all over again.
"Nothing would make me happier than being able to bring it to New York and share it." Tony winner @JohnGallagherJr shares why he joined the new musical SWEPT AWAY before reading the script and more on a recent episode of @Thebwayshowtv. broadway.com/buzz/201894/wh…

Very jazzed that THE COW is premiering at SXSW this year. I had such a great time making this movie. Can’t wait for folks to see it. twitter.com/BoulderLight/s…
Spilled a small amount of coffee on the counter today and immediately said out loud to my empty hotel room “Oh I’m on the edge today. I’m on the f***ing edge.”

Me abandoning my Dry January with 10 days to go because I opened a brand new American musical in front of a real live audience during a pandemic and it feels like nothing short of a gotdang miracle to be able to accomplish such a feat at this moment in time.
In this episode, Swept Away writer, John Logan and lead actor, John Gallagher Jr. join Bob and Ben for a discussion about how the music became a musical, their sources of creativity, and why they decided to develop Swept Away. Listen here: ▶️ RTNpod.me/219

Rehearsing and mounting a new musical at this moment in time is a unique challenge for all involved but the weeks we have spent in the room putting this thing together have been so richly refreshing and rewarding. First preview rolls ‘round this Sunday. At long last. ⚓️ twitter.com/SFC_Datebook/s…
Me seeing Love Actually is on TV: I shall view some of this holiday film peripherally with an ironic sense of detachment. Me watching Emma Thompson breaking down alone in the bedroom over Alan Rickman’s (RIP) infidelity as Joni Mitchell’s 2000 version of Both Sides Now plays: 😭
Tickets are on sale now for the world premiere of SWEPT AWAY, a new musical directed by Michael Mayer featuring songs by The Avett Brothers and a book by John Logan. Come west and catch us at the Berkeley Repertory Theatre starting in January 2022. berkeleyrep.org/shows/swept-aw…
I’m playing drums in @lakestheband tonight at @elsewherespace in Brooklyn. We’re opening for the incomparable @GYMSHORTSMUSIC. It’s a 16+ show. Doors at 6. We’re first up at 7. We’re debuting a new song and I bought 2 new pairs of drumsticks. ⚡️🤘Sg
And that’s a wrap on the 9th Annual JGJ October Horror Movie Tweet-a-Thon! Thanks for following along with me once again. I hope you had some fun and got sufficiently spooked. Until next year. Peace out Spooky Season. ✌🏻vM
10/31) SLUT. One of my favorite horror movies in recent memory is a stellar short film from ultra talented writer/director Chloe Okuno about a shy teenage girl in small town Texas who finds her life turned upside down after she strikes up a relationship with a mysterious drifter.
10/30) FREDDY VS. JASON. Two cinematic slasher universes finally collide after years of fan speculation and failed attempts by filmmakers and studios. The great Robert Englund dons his razor glove on screen one last time officially as the iconic nighttime killing machine Krueger.
10/29) RETURN OF THE LIVING DEAD II. An undead sequel that falls in line with Evil Dead 2 by basically remaking the original with a few random deviations. The great James Karen and Thom Matthews save the day by sort of reprising their roles. If only Linnea Quigley did the same!
10/28) POLTERGEIST III. Another spooky sequel set in a skyscraper that randomly deviates rather wildly from the original film. A few smart scares and some practical effects stand out. The co-writer of ‘Henry: Portrait of a Serial Killer’ plays a cameo role. RIP Heather O’Rourke.
10/27) GREMLINS 2: THE NEW BATCH. Much has been said and spoofed about this mythically bonkers sequel yet one must still see it to believe it. A fun and frenetic follow up to its brilliant predecessor that throws the kitchen sink at the audience with varying degrees of precision.
10/26) TRILOGY OF TERROR. Karen Black stars in adaptations of three Richard Matheson short stories that make up this made for TV horror anthology that originally aired on ABC in 1975. A movie of the week that still serves as a reminder of the talents of both Black and Matheson.
10/25) HIS HOUSE. A married couple fleeing South Sudan seek asylum in London where they soon begin to suspect they aren’t the only inhabitants of their new home. A heartbreaking, horrific feature debut from Remi Weekes with stellar performances from Sope Dirisu and Wunmi Mosaku.
