I just hosted an @IQ2US debate on the Roe leak. The two debaters, @maryrziegler and @whignewtons (Sarah Isgur) proving sharp disagreement and civil discourse are NOT incompatible. Take a listen. Bet you'll learn something.…
Is it possible for people, holding differing opinions to debate in a manner that doesn't involve demonizing? Most definitely. And @IQ2US is proof. Had a great chat with @clea_conner and @JohnDonvan of Intelligence Squared US.…

One of the benefits of being the host of @IQ2US is being able to have conversations like these and talk to experts like @kvolker and @EmmaMAshford. Give our episode on #Ukraine a listen:
Pfizer and Moderna recently announced their intention to ask for authorization on a second booster to their COVID-19 vaccines. Listen to our debate on the ethics of the boosters with @VinGuptaMD, @DrLeanaWen and host @JohnDonvan:

A lot of the big-picture stuff can get lost in the day-to-day coverage of #Ukraine, but (I'd like to think) our @IQ2US episode on the conflict and Putin's invasion does a good job of looking at a lot of what's at stake in this war for the wider world.
The latest @IQ2US debate is out now. Join me and our debaters Jennifer Hernandez, @joelkotkin, @margaretomara, and Ed Glaeser to hear their thoughts on the state of big cities like #NewYork, #Boston, #SanFrancisco, #LosAngeles and maybe where you live!
As the news from #Ukraine looks ever more dire, I find myself re-listening to our @IQ2US debate on the conflict. Our debaters @EmmaMAshford and @kvolker, really contextualize the invasion and what it means for you and me.
Hey...strong rec for a 3-part documentary laying bare US govt chase and miss on stopping terrorist's only available a few days (my colleague @SDanaWolfe one of the producers) here ...…
Hope you can join us for our next @IQ2US debate. Jennifer Hernandez, @joelkotkin, @margaretomara, and Ed Glaeser join me 3/24 to talk the future of #BigCities. Whether you're a Manhattanite or living life in the country, there's a lot to hear in this one!
As the US and NATO work to provide further support to the Ukrainians, I hope you find this @IQ2US debate between @EmmaMAshford and @kvolker helps add some context to the conflict. @cepa @AtlanticCouncil

It was my pleasure to speak with @Rudawkurdish about the death of #ISIS leader al-Quraishi. We also covered the enduring strong partnerships of the #US with the #SDF, Iraqi security forces, and #Peshmerga, as well as the often harmful actions of #Turkey in Syria.

Election watching by an open fire, in our nation's capital. Strangely our "watch party" , with much social distancing, is somberly silent as we watch the returns come in. Perhaps it's more boisterous where you are!

As lots of you know, I moderate the @IQ2US debates (REALLY GOOD DEBATES). Only one time did things really get out of control. Unruly debater-wise. Here's what I did. Hands worked. It was a gamble.
The moderator role requires re-definition. To be more than a host, timekeeper, question-asker. The role requires a referee, granted power to call fouls, penalize. Cut mics. Dock time from the rulebreaker. That's not taking sides. That's running the show. #PresidentialDebate
Okay, last night we saw a fiasco, not a debate. But debate as a concept CAN work, and play out civilly, and even shed light. Proof? Tonight at 6 EST, we're doing it yet again on a tough topic, Policing. It's free and YOU get to vote. I hope you'll join us.…

Just 75 years ago someone who looked like me didn’t have a credential into a White House built by slaves. The first black female White House reporter pawned her watch every week to eat. Grateful the next time I walk through the gates it will be as a White House corespondent ❤️
