A world free of nuclear weapons is possible — they do not provide defence, only the certainty of destruction and the death of millions. Our duty is to create a world of peace, through justice and sustainability. Marking #HiroshimaDay with @CNDCymru in Tregaron. ☮️
Royal Mail Group are coming at postal workers with later starts, less sick pay, removing allowances, introducing strike breaking agency and management force, moving work to competitors to intimidate CWU members and more. RT if you stand with your postal workers.

If you’re a CEO announcing record profits and a real terms pay cut for your workers: I ain’t your mate.
RT if you want to see CEOs in the media studios explaining how the hell they justify billions in profit, hundreds of millions to shareholders, millions into their own pockets, massive price hikes for customers and handing scraps to workers.

The military junta have carried out extrajudicial executions in Myanmar, including Zayar Thaw, a young MP I met when he visited my constituency as part of an IPU delegation in 2012. These killings must be globally condemned and those responsible brought to justice.
We must recognise that most workers have seen cuts in wages over the past decade, whilst bosses take home record pay and bonuses. Now is the time for a bold alternative to the poverty, misery and desperation faced by millions of families in our communities and workplaces.
This scandal demands immediate action. The way forward has to be a radical economic alternative, including public ownership of rail, energy, water and the Royal Mail.
This is a cost of living crisis where greed, profits and inequality continue to grow. There are more billionaires and more people forced into using food banks than at any other point in history.

The Tories never miss an opportunity to make it harder for ordinary people to come together to stand up for themselves. They attacks strikes and they attack protests because they know change is coming. People have had enough of everything going up apart from their pay. twitter.com/kwasikwarteng/…

The UK’s infrastructure is completely unprepared to deal with extreme heat and flooding — and it’s only going to get worse. We need urgent action on the climate crisis.
Most of all, the Party needs to decide what it is for and who decides that. Are we a democratic socialist party, run by members and affiliated unions, that aims for a fundamental transfer of wealth and power from the few to the many? Or are we something else?
The appalling behaviour that Forde calls out, including the repulsive racism and sexism shown to @HackneyAbbott and others, should have no place in a progressive party. Toxic factionalism is far from over - nor are persistent problems of racism and sexism.
Whatever arguments there are about specific findings, this report should help us see a path forward. The politics of the many, not the few, are more needed in this country than ever.
In a democratic party those decisions should be taken by the elected leadership. Too often the will of the membership was overridden by people who thought they shouldn’t have had a say in the first place.
It included the secret diversion of campaign funds by senior HQ staff in the 2017 election, which Forde rightly condemns as “unequivocally wrong”. Whether or not that prevented the election of a Labour government, it was dishonest.
Despite overwhelming support from members and affiliates, powerful groups in the party found that change hard to come to terms with. This led to a conflict in Labour that created a toxic environment, which the Forde Report lays bare.
My election as leader in 2015 was a major shock in British politics. It wasn’t about me, but a popular demand for anti-austerity politics following the 2008 financial crisis and 35 years of market fundamentalism.
The Forde Report casts an important light on events in the Labour Party in recent years. Read my full statement: facebook.com/10004444629881…
He has created poverty, inequality and insecurity. That is Boris Johnson’s legacy.
Our Pharma lead @TimBierley is in today's @CityAM: "As we start looking back at the legacy of Boris Johnson’s leadership, his blocking of a global agreement to scale up vaccine production, at the height of the pandemic, ranks among his worst legacies." bit.ly/3P3RbCN
