We have an opportunity to prove that a government of the people, by the people and for the people can still deliver big things. And we can feed tens of millions of hungry kids while we do it. What’s there to even discuss?…
Speaking of things that are incredibly popular, @IlhanMN has a new op-ed on the extension of her MEALS Act, and why we need to make universal school meals permanent!…

Attacking our rights from the bench is below the dignity of the Supreme Court. Miss me with your faux outrage.…
Congress can change the number of justices on the Supreme Court at any time, and has done so 7 times throughout history. Since 1869, the last time the court was expanded, the U.S. population has grown by over 800%, yet the court has stayed stagnant at 9 justices.

Public trust of the Supreme Court is the lowest since it's been measured and we're so polarized that one political party attempted a coup. Perhaps the public is waiting for someone to actually show they give a damn about saving our democracy?…

As Attorney General, I will make sure that abortion isn’t only accessible to Minnesotans. Anyone who needs an abortion that’s legal in MN will find support here.

In the wake of SCOTUS' reversal of Roe, I'm proud to be endorsed by @PPact, @womenwinning, @NWPCNational, and @NARAL. They understand as long as I'm in Congress, I will fight to codify Roe and reform this mockery of a Supreme Court. I am glad we are partners in this fight.
The Supreme Court just ruled that public school teachers can pressure students to join in prayer at public school events but can also retaliate against those that don’t join in. Religious freedom is dead in America.
Proud to stand with so many incredible women with @womenwinning this morning. Shouts to @peggyflanagan, @TinaSmithMN, and @amyklobuchar.
"We need an impeachment investigation into Clarence Thomas' role in the January 6th coup, as well as into Gorsuch, Alito, Barrett, and Kavanaugh's testimony on Roe during their confirmation hearings," said @IlhanMN.

For the first time in nearly 50 yrs women in Minnesota will have more rights than women in neighboring states like South Dakota. We must codify Roe into law!
It’s not pro-life if you oppose gun violence prevention, oppose universal healthcare, oppose affordable prescription drugs, oppose the child tax credit, oppose paid leave, oppose universal childcare, oppose free school meals, and support endless wars You are just #proforcedbirth
And YES, we need you to demand your Members of Congress support reform and vote for Members who do. But we as leaders need to articulate a clear and bold reform agenda that meets the seriousness and danger of this moment. That is step #1.
Lastly, Congress can change the number of justices on the court at any time, and has done so 7 times throughout history. In the face of stolen seats, a sitting justice implicated in a coup attempt, and a dangerous crisis of legitimacy, it should absolutely be on the table.
We need an impeachment investigation into Clarence Thomas’s role in the January 6th coup, as well as into Gorsuch, Alito, Barrett, and Kavanaugh’s testimony on Roe during their confirmation hearings.
Congress also has the authority to impeach Members of the Supreme Court and has done so before.
Next, Congress has the Constitutional authority to regulate this court. Supreme Court Justices should have binding ethics rules—just like Congress—and term limits.
At a MINIMUM, the Senate should get rid of the filibuster to codify Roe v Wade into law. Worried Manchin, Sinema, Colllins and Murkowski won’t support it? Make them take a vote and go on the record choosing minority rule over women’s rights.
5 justices confirmed by a POTUS who lost the popular vote. 4 lied under oath. 2 credibly accused of sexual assault. 1’s seat literally stolen. 1’s spouse implicated in a coup attempt. It is not enough to tell people to vote. We need a comprehensive plan to fix this court.
I am disgusted by the plans that Republican lawmakers have laid out to impose a federal ban on abortion care and overturn other legal precedents that protect our civil rights. Our lives will change radically, even those of us in states like Illinois. (1/3)

The people who claim government is too big, are totally fine with government intervening in your private lives & using the law to limit what choices you can make about your body. Don’t forget, they hate the government unless the government is enforcing their religious extremism.
Remember that "withdrawal" from the Middle East, the recalibration @POTUS promised? DOA. Instead Biden is tangling us far more than any prior president with a dangerous new "security alliance" to defend the region's autocrats. My analysis here:…

Roe v. Wade is a privacy case, a bodily autonomy case & it’s ultimately about the right to make our own decisions about our uteruses. Today, the Supreme Court ruled a person w/ a uterus needs government controlling their decisions and should be treated as less than a full human.

As we fight to make abortion legal at the federal level, I continue to reject the legitimacy of such an undemocratic institution. Expand the court.
Like every case I’ve named before, overturning Roe proves it’s not. The Court’s majority is serving its purpose. Minnesotans, we are lucky we have Tim Walz and Keith Ellison in office to protect our rights at home. If Republicans win in November, MN will look a lot like Texas.
Are decided by 9 unelected lawyers, serving decade after decade with as much a political agenda as my most partisan colleagues in the House? Because make no mistake: SCOTUS is as much a political body as the House or Senate. We just pretend it’s above all that.
How can a society function when the ultimate word on the rights of citizens - the rights of Blacks to be free from bondage and later to vote as equals, or of Japanese Americans to not be herded into camps, or the rights of women to not be forced to give birth…
We claim to live in a democracy. A form of government that does not just do the will of the people, but protects the rights of the people. There are times we have lived up to our ideals. And there are many, many times where we haven’t. Like this.
