Heal the Bay @HealTheBay determines the cleanest and dirtiest beaches in California. 15 in San Diego made it on their ‘Honor Roll’ when it comes to water quality. Can you guess which beach did not? Here’s the list: healthebay.org/beachreportcar…
Erckenbrack Park, Marlin Park, + Lakeshore Park beaches are on @HealTheBay's 2021-2022 "Beach Bummer List" (AGAIN for Erckenbrack + Marlin Park). What's up with San Mateo County? Poor water circulation, in part, but also, #urbanrunoff | buff.ly/3NjIz9c via @BayCityNews
Today, @HealTheBay released its annual water quality grades in partnership with @wsl! Safeguarding the health of the millions that enjoy the coastline, this report is essential for monitoring water quality and keeping the public informed: wsl.tv/healthebay2022#weareoneocean
In its annual 'beach report card,' Heal the Bay graded hundreds of beaches in California and ranked the cleanest and dirtiest beaches in the state.
So where does San Diego fall on that list?
Heal the Bay graded more than 700 beaches and found that 94% of California’s beaches logged clean water-quality marks between April and October 2021.
But the report still found troubling pockets of pollution — some surprising and others stubborn.
Every year @HealTheBay analyzes more than 500 beaches in California and ranks them by grade. No other state has 30+ years of data like this.
The lower the grade, the greater the health risks. Check out this year’s most polluted beaches: latimes.com/california/sto…
We just posted our annual scientific reports on bacterial-pollution rankings for hundreds of California beaches and dozens of freshwater areas in Los Angeles County. Know where it's safe to go in the water and the areas to avoid due to health risks.
California, Arizona, and Nevada used a total of about 7 million acre-feet of Colorado River water last year.
New Federal regulations seek to minimize the use of this sacred resource.

My bill to address the decades-old, dumped chemical waste in Southern California's coastal waters has passed the Assembly and now heads to the Senate. #AB2758 will give the public a seat at the table as we work to restore our ocean. Thank you @AsmMuratsuchi
Commercial #stormwater contributes 4x the pollution of natural conditions, while passing liability onto local govs. It's time we hold Commercial facilities responsible for their stormwater pollution while helping munis fund #stormwatercapture! @AsmPatODonnell SUPPORT #AB2106!
The good news is alternatives are already available!
Now, we need all of California on board to phase out single-use plastic packaging from online orders.
