Bizarre that a Tory MP was sitting in the House of Commons looking at porn on his mobile phone. You would think that he might actually listen to the debate…
Enormous numbers of people are really struggling to make ends meet. The government's own Spring Statement made people even poorer. This is a Tory cost of living crisis. thetimes.co.uk/article/six-in…
It was a pleasure to celebrate Iftar at Suleymaniye Mosque last night with Mayor @PhilipGlanville, @metecoban92 & @SorayaAdejare. The Suleymaniye Mosque does brilliant work in the community and is a great example of how faith groups in Hackney enrich our Borough.
Tory government is pretending to care about the cost of living crisis, but they caused it. This measure hits younger workers, the poor, ethnic minorities the hardest. theguardian.com/education/2022…
Having cut back our right to protest, the Government is now proposing an "anti-boycotts bill". This would make it harder to put peaceful pressure on unethical regimes & companies engaging in human rights violations, worker exploitation and other harmful acts. We must oppose it.

Who believes that Boris Johnson is genuinely sorry for the anonymous sexist attack on Angela Rayner by a Tory MP? As always with Boris he is only ever sorry when things get called out
Boris Johnson was spotted out running this morning. He may yet have to run away from the consequences of lying about Downing Street parties that happened when everyone else was in Covid lockdown
Even the architect of the Hostile Environment believes the Government's Rwanda deportation plans are unworkable and won't serve their stated purpose. I asked the Government why they disagree and what makes them so sure their scheme won't fall in the courts.
Just as the Jamaica PM used the visit of Duke and Duchess of Cambridge to call for the country to become a republic, the Antigua and Barbuda PM is using another royal visit to make the case for reparations.
This is the reality of Tory 'levelling up'. Their policies cause the widening in the most fundamental inequalities of all. Ten year gap in life expectancy between rich and poor thetimes.co.uk/article/life-e…

This is Glen Owen the Mail on Sunday journalist who wrote the ridiculously misogynistic story about Angela Rayner and her legs. Interesting that he feels entitled to judge female MPs by their looks.

This morning is the APPG for Black Maternal Health's inaugural public meeting - an important milestone. But with Black women still 4x more likely to die in pregnancy and childbirth and no binding government targets to address this, there's still so much further to go.

Bringing back fracking won't tackle the cost-of-living crisis or lower energy bills. What it will do is escalate the climate crisis and devastate communities. By pursuing fracking, the Government has made it clear they can't be trusted to heat our homes. yorkshirepost.co.uk/news/opinion/c…

Boris Johnson is a liar.
Not even Tory MPs could bring themselves to defend Boris Johnson yesterday. Only somebody as shameless and tenacious as he is would still be clinging on to power by now.
Boris Johnson's claim that there were no lockdown parties at Number Ten is an insult to the intelligence of the British people. But he has always been guided by the principle that there is one set of rules for him and his cronies and another set for everybody else.
Government in trouble, Prime Minister hanging on by his finger nails, NHS in crisis and living standards falling. So what do the Tories reach for? This type of rubbish of course.
The Tories claim to have protected the economy. They haven't. People are the most important part of the economy, and they are really struggling with the cost of living because of government policy. bbc.co.uk/news/business-…

A former Home Office permanent secretary has said that the Government’s Rwanda deportation plans are "inhumane, morally reprehensible, probably unlawful and may well be unworkable". Yesterday, I asked the Home Secretary how she could justify pushing ahead with them.
There is huge anger at the cost of living crisis. Fully justified. So, if Tory MPs think the public are in a forgiving mood, they are in for a rude wakening. Energy chiefs fear 40% of Britons could fall into fuel poverty in ‘truly horrific winter’ theguardian.com/business/2022/…
Boris Johnson couldn't tell us how many members of his Cabinet have been involved in tax avoidance schemes. Last week, just 5 of his cabinet ministers were willing to publicly state that they and their families haven't used tax havens or non-dom status to dodge taxes #PMQs

For decades Tory governments including Theresa May's have whipped up racism around immigration to distract from their own failures. But she is right to damn the Rwanda scheme for its lack of ‘legality and practicality’. Could have added morality too. theguardian.com/politics/2022/…
"I'm sorry if I upset anyone, but I didn't do anything I thought was against the rules at the time, even though I'm head of the government that set the rules. Therefore I wasn't lying when I said no parties took place, even though I was at loads of them". theguardian.com/politics/2022/…

Back in 2014 Ken Livingstone predicted that Boris would become leader of the Tory party. He said Labour should “concentrate on the fact they're dealing with a fairly lazy tosser who just wants to be there" Ken was proved absolutely right
Tory immigration minister Tom Pursglove on @BBCr4today refusing to give a straight answer to any single question about plan to dump asylum seekers in Rwanda. The truth is they don’t know. Scheme has been cobbled together to distract from partygate
The former top official at the Home Office says of Priti Patels plan to dump asylum seekers in Rwanda “My assessment is first of all it's inhumane, it's morally reprehensible, it's probably unlawful and it may well be unworkable."
As Tories plan to dump asylum seekers in Rwanda, remember Tony Benn’s words "The way a government treats refugees is very instructive because it shows you how they would treat the rest of us if they thought they could get away with it."
Priti Patel is a disgrace. All she cares about is pandering to racists #AsylumSeekers #Rwandaconcentrationcamp twitter.com/pritipatel/sta…
Majority of British voters back scrapping that massive tax dodge non-dom status. This has been Labour policy since 2015. So why won’t Keir Starmer come out and say that it still is? labourlist.org/2022/04/exclus…
It's no coincidence that the Rwanda deportation deal comes at a time when the Tories are under fire for partygate, tax avoidance and forcing people into poverty. Mired in scandal & failure, this Government is sinking deeper into its last redoubt: anti-migrant policies & racism.

Shipping asylum seekers 5000 miles to Rwanda for “processing” is both cruel and bizarre. And at a cost of up to £100,000 per asylum seeker, it is a ridiculously expensive way to pander to racists.
