Apocalyptic scenes from Turkey’s Milas where wildfires are burning a coal based thermal plant
People are concerned that the coal also would cause further air pollution and a separate environmental disaster
Video from North Euboea, Greece, on Wednesday 4 August 2021. Evacuation is only possible by boats since the wildfire cannot be controlled. Canadair firefighting aircrafts cannot operate due to high temperatures, locally reaching 45ºC.

Greece reported its highest temperature on record on Monday (115°F) as it experiences its worst heat wave in over 30 years.
There have been 100+ fires in 2 days. A major fire near Athens has cut the main highway linking the north and south, forcing hundreds to evacuate.
What some call ”climate action” is actually outsourcing and excluding consumption, setting vague distant targets, burning biomass instead of fossil fuels and excluding the emissions, offsetting, switching from one disastrous energy source to a slightly less disastrous one etc.2/2
Some people make it seem as if we’re not doing enough to stop the climate crisis. But that’s not true.
Because to not do enough, you have to do something. And the truth is that we are basically not doing anything apart from “creative carbon accounting” and creating loopholes.1/2
Today is the 7th anniversary of the Yazidi Genocide. Words cannot ease the pain & trauma from massacres, sexual enslavement, & displacement that Yazidis live with every day. Only tangible support for justice & recovery can.

Wildfires, floods, droughts, heatwaves and other (un)natural disasters rage all over the world.
Many now ask "What will it take for people in power to act?".
Well, it will many things, but above all it will take: massive pressure from media and massive pressure from the public.
DRAMATIC ESCAPE: Residents and tourists forced to evacuate by boat as wildfires rage toward popular beach resorts along Turkey’s Mediterranean coast.
The death toll from the fire includes at least eight people so far. abcn.ws/3fjONIf
This is Bodrum. We’re living in hell, says the mayor: “It’s not possible to put down the fires from the ground, and it’s too late to use firefighter planes or helicopters. We’re trying to protect residential areas. But we can do nothing to save the trees
