Yes — 4 in North Carolina, 79 in Florida. twitter.com/dlastmango_/st…
1 pm ET SUNDAY Grim update (and not complete her) on deaths in Florida from Ian — 79 — by far the deadliest in the satellite era for Florida. @KentonGewecke @DanAmarante
Agree with this whole heartedly! Both hurricane Michael (Cat 5 with 12-14 foot surge) & Ian I rode out safely in their eye walls from a safe structure. The difficult part in the rebuild process in doing it to that degree of hurricane protection= money & equality. twitter.com/1ofYourGays/st…
When we warn about the power of water (storm surge) being able to move buildings and cars, I hate to see it happen. My heart is aching for southwest Florida. Here are some vetted places to donate: abcnews.go.com/US/impacted-hu…
So fortunate the first responders were training right there! Hope you can catch @HeartsofHeroes_ today! twitter.com/heartsofheroes…
Final update: this was a list of direct deaths in Florida — Katrina caused 6 direct deaths in Florida… so didn’t make this list. Thanks for being involved everyone. Bottom line, Ian will be the deadliest IN FLORIDA since 1960s twitter.com/Ginger_Zee/sta…
And a final update- 6 DIRECT deaths — so they text indirect
#Ian about to make landfall in South Carolina as a Cat 1, 85 mph max sustained winds, tornado threat, surge ongoing, flash flooding in many places. Be safe everyone! @WXmel6
You are correct — we knew it crossed Florida but 14 deaths from Katrina - IN Florida ! cdc.gov/mmwr/preview/m… @KentonGewecke can update. Not at all intentional omission. twitter.com/wfcr50/status/…
And there is the flooding from Ian we were mentioning today on @GMA — goodness #Ian is relentless. twitter.com/PawleysIslandP…
It actually was a Mississippi coast storm first and foremost. Then yes, Louisiana with the huge impacts. So, correct, not Florida. twitter.com/don19015698/st…
As noted clearly in the title of the graphic — this is for FLORIDA twitter.com/kcwilliams2002…
This name will absolutely be retired! That means a new “I” name will show up 6 years from now From the already determined @WMO list twitter.com/pinkgrapefruit…
#Ian likely the deadliest hurricane in Florida in the last 60 years (since satellites showed us they were coming). Prior to that we couldn’t see them outside of reports from ships so death tolls were much higher back before satellites. @KentonGewecke
Storm reports continue to come in. Georgetown getting more and Florence reporting multiple trees down. Will get these out as fast as we can, but expect the number of reports to increase as the storm moves inland. @EdPiotrowski @JohnSmithWX @SydneyMadisonW #SCwx #Ian

11 am Friday: Those winds are kicking in Ian in SC @Wx_Max twitter.com/nwscharlestons…
When we are in the storm, people like @Dom_Proto and his team gather all the most surreal images so we can craft a story together. It’s a real team effort and I’m proud to work with such a great team in the field and back in New York. twitter.com/dom_proto/stat…
We rode out the storm right at the end of this bridge — the asphalt on the road out was moved by the surge. twitter.com/brianemfinger/…
From @DanAmarante & pointed out this morning by @Wx_Max : Charleston, SC is starting to see a bit of anti surge as the wind shifts. Meanwhile, with a strong southeast wind, myrtle beach is starting to take off with surge.
Hurricane force winds recorded just south of Charleston on a buoy — hurricane force winds 70 miles from the center so they’ll be on shore soon! twitter.com/NWSCharlestonS…
Folly Beach reporting 66 mph gust already as #HurricaneIan approaches. @SamWnek @Wx_Max @KentonGewecke
Cuba, two in Florida (barrier island then mainland) and now SC twitter.com/thesnfd/status…
My piece from this morning on the day after hurricane #Ian — and the moment I was able to secure a few photos for Halie B (Ian survivor) - that I found on her refrigerator — the refrigerator that was floating almost to the ceiling in the heart of the surge. twitter.com/gma/status/157…
South Carolina hasn’t had a landfalling hurricane for 6 years (since Matthew). Looks like #Ian will make landfall near Georgetown but as it approaches water will pile into Charleston Harbor so the warning for 5-7 feet of surge. Look at the flood potential:
North Carolina almost all covered in flood watch. As rain from #Ian adds up today… please don’t drive if you have a flash flood warning! @KentonGewecke @Wx_Max @SamWnek
Hurricane warning for the entire coast of South Carolina. Hurricane #Ian will make it’s 4th landfall there later this afternoon. Surge & rain biggest concerns. See you on @GMA @Wx_Max @SamWnek @KentonGewecke
Reminder for SC/NC/GA… hurricane & tropical warnings are up for another landfall of #Ian tomorrow! Surge & rain biggest impacts. @WXmel6
Spent most of the day at Siesta Bay RV park in Fort Myers. 900 homes ~3 mi from open water of gulf. Survivors told us they had only 1.5 feet of air to their ceilings. Then I realized they had no spray painted x. Meaning they had not yet been checked for survivors >24 hours later
We don’t… have barely been able to communicate. But tonight we will have a satellite truck to broadcast. twitter.com/ptelligence/st…
We were able to navigate our of the hotel - extensive damage to the road from surge.
Warning: my tweets could be way out of order. Horrible service as to be expected. This was from Wednesday obviously. twitter.com/Ginger_Zee/sta…
Before and during😳 still not done. Man, this is a long time in the eye wallPz
Service struggling but we are safe — long 4 hours in the eye wall … #Ian
Landfall just happened less than 20 miles to our northeast — we are still in the eyewall and the surge says it all! #Ian #hurricane
#Ian landfall NEAR CAYO COSTA Florida - 305 PM
...IAN ABOUT TO MAKE LANDFALL IN SOUTHWESTERN FLORIDA... ...CATASTROPHIC STORM SURGE, WINDS, AND FLOODING IN THE FLORIDA PENINSULA ONGOING...   A Weatherflow station at Tarpin point in Cape Coral reported sustained winds of 77 mph (124 km/h) with a gust up to 118 mph (190 km/h).

Update from Sanibel— 98 mph wind gust— we are right across from the Island but can’t see it twitter.com/abcnewslive/st…
I have flown storms for the last six years. This flight to Hurricane #Ian on Kermit (#NOAA42) was the worst I’ve ever been on. I’ve never seen so much lightning in an eye. This was the eye. You can see the curvature. Understand this is at NIGHT. The light is from LIGHTNING.
