What a start to 2022 for Scottie Scheffler. Masters Champion, first Major Championship, and his fourth win on the year - Scottie is on fire, and his dominant performance at Augusta proved he is deserving of the green jacket & the No. 1 ranking. Congrats Scottie! All my best, GP.
Augusta National is a course that demands respect on every single shot, no matter how talented of a player you are. Which player has impressed you the most with their play thus far? Video via @TheMasters
It is always an honor to tee off at Augusta National especially with legends and friends like @jacknicklaus and @TomWatsonPGA by your side. Thank you to @TheMasters for having us, now let’s enjoy a fantastic weekend of competition.
Unforgettable memories. Tomorrow, another chapter in the history books will begin. #TheMasters
Delighted to be at @TheMasters with my family.
😁 It’s here. My mood for one of my favorite weeks of the year. Happy Masters Week!O
Getting ready for Thursday morning at @TheMasters. I’ve been working hard to score below my age but I’ve been working even harder to keep my swing speed above my age. Pushing for 90mph. Here is the data for this shot. ⬇️
A very special day celebrating Vivienne’s birthday and launching The Gary & Vivienne Player Foundation. Viv had immense love in her heart and was always putting others before herself. We will work to continue to spread her love and passion for children.
Only one week until @TheMasters! The history, the traditions, the environment – there is truly nothing else like it. One of my favorite traditions is skipping the ball on the 16th hole during the practice round. Which Augusta tradition is your favorite?
In fact, 12 million hectares of topsoil are lost every year across the world. That's almost the size of the entire nation of Greece. @SadhguruJV, I wish you the best of luck on your journey of 30,000 km, bringing people together for the Save Soil movement.
It is no secret that I have a passion for the environment and as a result I am delighted to help bring awareness to the Save Soil movement that my dear friend @SadhguruJV has started. It is scary to note that our soil is facing extinction.
Absolutely delighted to have been in Delhi to open the newly renovated Delhi Golf Course. I am thrilled how the changes have turned out and I am sure that the course will provide a great challenge at @TheDGCOpen. My best, GP.
Since it’s Thursday, enjoy this classic throwback from the 1969 @PGAChampionship. The one upside to a lousy shot? Getting up close and personal with the fans!
“The outside of a horse is good for the inside of a man.” – Winston Churchill. Horses continue to be one of my passions. After two years away from South Africa, I was finally able to visit my horses. Besides golf, there are few things I enjoy more than being with my horses.
I had a fantastic time hosting the recent Wings & Wishes Golf Day in support of South Africa’s @WingsWishes, which provides transportation for ill children to receive the medical care they need. The organization does fantastic work and it's an honor to help support its cause.
Slow-motion Sunday. My takeaway has always been low and long and it means that at the top I am a little “crouched.” So I work on standing a bit more upright which allows me to rotate better. There is always something to focus and work on and that is why I love this game.
Massive congratulations to @TigerWoods on his induction into the @GolfHallofFame. I can't think of anyone more deserving. Tiger has had the most profound impact on the game and we have all reaped the rewards. I'm thrilled for you and so proud of you my friend. My best, GP
There is nothing like being a girl dad (and a girl grandad, and a girl great-grandad!). Happy International Women’s Day to the wonderful ladies in my life and to you all. #IWD
We are officially one month away from @TheMasters! I want to hear from you – What are you most interested in seeing around Masters Week? Behind the scenes moments, great moments from history, my predictions, something else? Let me and my team know.
I'm delighted to be back in my home country with my dear friend @ronanofficial at a special charity event hosted by @CitadelSA. It warms my heart to see the school Viv and I started over 30 years ago, @BAPrePrimary, still thriving and educating vulnerable children.
Best of luck to those competing in the @APinv. This is one of my favorite events as it always reminds me of Arnie. Arnie used to get out of bed with charisma and he used his talent to make the sport and the world better. I miss him dearly but it's great to see his legacy live on.
In honor of #WomensHistoryMonth I would like to take a moment to commend & celebrate the women of golf who have broken barriers and helped grow the game for future generations. It’s fantastic to see more girls getting involved in golf and the heights the Ladies’ game will reach.
Fans are the lifeblood of sport. I cannot wait to head to Augusta for @TheMasters and St. Andrews for @TheOpen. It’s a joy to watch golf’s top talents compete, but it's even more special to meet and mingle with fellow golf lovers. Are you attending any tournaments this year?
A body in motion stays in motion. Here’s a glimpse at my daily pool workout I’ve been doing while back home in South Africa. I love mixing things up and finding new ways to get moving. You have to keep things fresh after 86 years!
Playing at Glen Arbor, a course I designed in New York. You may have seen this target green before from another angle. Trying to hit this green is a great challenge but so much fun and has entertained so many guests. Have you ever played at Glen Arbor?
My forever valentine. ❤️ I encourage you all to tell your loved ones just how much they mean to you today (and as often as possible).
Quick tip of the day! In my opinion, Bobby Locke & @TigerWoods are the greatest putters of all time. Locke told me that pace is the most important factor in putting because if your pace is right, you have more opportunities for the ball to go in. Watch this to see what he meant.
Spring golf is just around the corner, we are now less than two months away from @TheMasters! Do you recognize the gent behind me? I have no doubt that this will rank as one of his most memorable Masters and I look forward to him joining myself & @jacknicklaus on the first tee.
Author Randy O. Williams and I will unpack the history of golf’s biggest events with insider stories from their earliest iterations to modern day. I can’t wait to share these unforgettable stories with you all.
To me, nothing in sport has a more iconic history than golf’s Major Championships, which is why I’m thrilled to announce my newest book project: "Golf’s Majors: From Hagen and Hogan to A Bear and a Tiger, Inside the Most Unforgettable Performances of the Grand Slam.”
I hardly recognize the lad in this throwback! My first @TheOpen in 1956. Saying I am excited for this year’s 150th Open does not do it justice. One of the things that makes golf so special is its rich history, and no tournament is more steeped in tradition than The Open.
The golf swing: always practiced yet never perfected. Forever trying to improve. Which swing is your favorite?
From the archives: The 103rd @TheOpen Championship at Royal Lytham & St Annes Golf Club in 1974 with the one and only Alfred “Rabbit” Dyer. Rabbit caddied for me for 20 years and was the best caddie I ever had. He was an incredible character and he brought great joy into my life.
Wishing a happy birthday to my dear friend @jacknicklaus. I will always hold that you are the finest gentleman the game has seen. The game of golf is lucky to have had you and I am even luckier to call you my best friend. Here’s to many more, Laddie.
Missing my Vivienne a bit extra today on our 65th wedding anniversary. Life isn't the same without her, but I'm so grateful for the 70+ years we shared and the wonderful life we were able to build together. She was the greatest wife and mother to our children. I love you, Viv.
The art of the swing. Your strength comes from your legs and core and as I have always said, if you think your hands are more important in the golf swing than your legs, try walking a hole on your hands.
We've all been there... you hit one in the sand and when you walk up to it, it’s absolutely buried. Today @blair_wheeler and I show you how to properly attack a "Fried Egg."
The countdown to April is on! Congratulations @TomWatsonPGA on the well-deserved invitation to serve as an honorary starter at @TheMasters. I could not be more pleased for you. It’s an honor to call you a friend and it will be an honor to stand at your side on the first tee.
My deepest condolences to Tim Rosaforte’s family and friends during this difficult time. Kind, trusted, and relentless at his craft, Tim was truly a generational talent and one of the greatest golf journalists the business has ever seen. Rest in peace, Tim.
Delighted for my friend @ctmascaro as his podcast, Next on the Tee, has been nominated for Golf Podcast of the Year by the @SportsPodAwards. It was a pleasure to join for an episode. I encourage you all to listen and cast a vote for the show here:…
If you can conquer Monday, you can conquer the week. Remember to do at least one thing this week that makes you better. It’s all about starting the year off on the right foot! #MondayMotivation
.@blair_wheeler shows why the bump and run is so crucial. The average golfer tries to use too much loft when chipping. Unless you're required to go over a hazard you should keep the ball as close to the ground as possible. My saying goes “hit it high and you’ll cry.”
While I’m not one for resolutions, I’m always trying to improve my game with small progressions every year. This year one of my areas of focus will be making more putts and you cannot do that without reading the greens better. Which part of your game will you focus on this year?
Happy New Year’s Eve! Looking back on a few of my favorite memories from 2021, including precious moments with family, the 60th anniversary of my first Masters, watching @garrick_higgo capture his first @PGATOUR wins, and time with my dog. Here’s to more memories in 2022.
Do you struggle reading greens, and thus with your putting game? I shared a few reliable tips for green reading with my friend @blair_wheeler recently, and now you get to hear them as well. Give these a try next time you play, and let me know if they help your short game!
I would like to wish you all a wonderful holiday season. It has been a year of highs and lows, none more challenging than losing my Vivienne. No matter what you have gone through this year, I hope your holiday season is filled with those most important to you. All my best.
We all hit bad shots, it’s simply part of the game. I hopped in the bunker with @blair_wheeler at The Bear's Club to share some sand game tips in preparation for your 2022 golf game. I hope this helps you hit fewer bad shots in the new year!
Looking back on another great week at the @PNCchampionship. It really is such a special event and it was a joy to play with my grandson Jordan. We had a blast and think we put on a pretty good showing! Congrats to @PGA_JohnDaly and his son on the win, they played fantastic golf.
The facial expressions of two men who absolutely hate to lose. I suppose not much has changed, right @jacknicklaus?! We might be a bit more laid back on the course nowadays, but we still love to compete.
