Do I really want to down this rabbit hole, too? 😬i
One of the tweaks is also to tame the “hugeness” at wider viewports. I’d intentionally gone for this to fill large screens, but on reflection is just obscures more content vertically. Hopefully this works better.
The gentler, less-blocky feel is perhaps(?) now at odds with the heavy headline type, but that’s next on my list of things to address (along with implementing the variable version of Degular!).
Just pushed live some fairly subtle (but hopefully experience-improving) CSS tweaks to my personal site. elliotjaystocks.com
For those who missed the nighttime posting yesterday, a new (and horrendously late) blog post: elliotjaystocks.com/blog/2020-in-m…
Via one of the many rabbit holes of the web, I was just reminded of @shauninman’s Mint. Sadly now deprecated (and it has been for a while), I remember being *so* excited when it launched. A real stand-out web app design of its time. ❤️ haveamint.com/about/feature_…
For my 44th birthday your can get 44% off at mrcup-shop.com for order above 44€ and it runs for 44 hours! RT is also a good way to support 😋H

Look at this animation, which uses Gridlite variable from @rosettatype. /ht @markboulton 2021.typographics.com
I blogged! First post of 2021. And although publishing an end-of-year review nearly five months into the next year is kind of daft, I decided to review 2020 (somewhat selfishly) through the lens of the music I put out over the course of the year. elliotjaystocks.com/blog/2020-in-m…
So good to see @fehler launch his new course. Chris is a super-experienced lecturer and one of the nicest people I know. As it says in the blurb, “an art school education minus the art school price tag”! twitter.com/fehler/status/…
Oh, @Ecologi_hq are Bristol-based! Nice. Good to keep things local.
I’m looking into regularly supporting a (probably UK-based) climate-positive service, possibly via the business, and @Ecologi_hq keeps popping up. I like the look of it, but find it hard to assess services like this from the outside. Anyone got any personal recommendations?
This is wonderful. So much to love about this typeface and its microsite. twitter.com/grillitype/sta…

Politics = people. Political beliefs should be prepared to face scrutiny anywhere, including the workplace. Being “at work” shouldn’t be a get-out-of-jail card for having questionable opinions — especially so for remote workers.
I love this: @ElevatorSound have made a browsable 3D version of their physical shop — complete with direct links to the products on the shelves. elevatorsound.com/3d-tour/
Michael Stipe has spent lockdown designing fonts?! This is too wonderful. theguardian.com/music/2021/apr…

Just subscribed to (@MKGeekNight founders) @richardwiggins’ and @davidhughes’ latest project @PooleyvilleUKus4.campaign-archive.com/?u=dad14dd188a… — and wow, that headline typeface! Zangezi by Daria Petrova: futurefonts.xyz/daria-petrova/…
I really hope Apple makes this computer one day.

Our copy of @paddydonnelly’s latest book — and his first as author, too — is here! My kids are going to be so excited when they come home and find this on the table. Congrats, mate!
Next time I do any remote workshopping, I’m firing up FigJam and one of these templates: figma.com/community/figj…
Despite best intentions, I completely failed to attend the first day of #config2021. What did I miss?
Very excited to be speaking at @staycurio_us tomorrow morning with my mates @craigmod & @marcthiele! I’ve been bed-ridden with a mystery infection for the last 3 days, so wasn’t sure if I’d be able to make it, but I *will* be there! My bed might come, too. beyondtellerrand.com/stay-curious/s…
We took in this injured chick this morning, and tried to nurse it back to health. Managed to take it to an animal rescue place this afternoon, but it was too far gone and had to be put down. 😢V
Congratulations to my friends at @getkirby on the beautiful new site! Kirby is the CMS that powers my personal site and I couldn’t be happier with it. twitter.com/getkirby/statu…
I think I’ve linked to this before, but hey, here’s a wonderful deep-dive into the variable font Recursive, written by its designer, @ThunderNixon (@ArrowType), for @css: css-tricks.com/getting-the-mo…
Today, I published the 10th episode of my label’s podcast. This one’s a live set by Roam. Enjoy! soundcloud.com/unknown-moveme…
The thing I’m working on with @googlefonts is really coming together now. So excited about showing you all in the not too distant future. (My positivity about this is helping combat the stress I’m feeling thanks to the baby squirrels currently chewing wires in my studio’s roof.)
Really enjoying the little speech bubble-y dot on the “i” in @connaryfagen’s Wayfinder. connary.com/wayfinder.html… /ht @DenseDiscovery
Wow, this is a beautiful site. Really digging the slightly early to mid 00s vibe here (I. mean that entirely in a good way). twitter.com/BillSKenney/st…
asking someone if you can ask them a question is like sending them a blank email with the subject line "can i send you an email?"

Great to see a new @ISO50 portfolio online. Some of that early work brings back very fond memories of old issues of Computer Arts magazine, and was a huge influence on me. iso50.com
Really looking forward to attending @staycurio_us this afternoon and hearing about @aoi_gm’s and @redhongyi’s journeys. twitter.com/staycurio_us/s…
What’s that in the new #Loki trailer, presumably intended to represent some sort of interrogation device? It’s Korg’s Volca Keys — one of my favourite synths!
I’m especially proud because Green Day were the band that first inspired me to pick up a guitar. I was 14 then. Pretty pleased she’s there at 5.
My eldest daughter — not quite 6yo — is obsessed with Green Day’s ‘Boulevard of Broken Dreams’. Having snuck up to her room with the iPad and dug out her headphones to listen to it even more, she calls out, “can we play your electric guitar later?” Super-proud Dad moment.
And yes, I have mixed feelings about this because the brewery probably get next to nothing. But then I do buy their more expensive beers every month from @HonestBrew!
Beer tip! Tesco sell this 4-pack of @NorthBrewCo’s Lost Cosmonauts IPA for £6.50 if you have a Clubcard (£8 if you don’t). That’s £1.63 for one of the best IPAs you can buy in a mainstream UK supermarket. BARGAIN.
Not new, but if you haven’t done so already, be sure to check out the microsite for @undercasetype’s Fraunces — not only some lovely type specimens, but a very friendly primer on variable fonts, optical sizing, etc. fraunces.undercase.xyz
So it turns out this is surprisingly simple: you simply ask the host to release the G Suite access to Google, and then Google emails you with a request for billing info. No downtime. (Always nice to be surprised when things just work.)
More awful (automated) customer service from @ionos_help_uk. The “inactivity” in question is while the support representative (who was actually very helpful) was updating something for me.
