Today is the 6th Aug & Jamaica celebrates 59 years of independence so you can imagine how proud I was to have been presented with my Order Of Distinction Medal yesterday by H.E. Seth George Ramocan CD at the Jamaican High Commission in London. A very special moment in my life.

‘Playing in big events is like a relay, everyone should play their position. Creating an atmosphere without trying to hamstring the headliner is a skill. A lot of DJs think of their own adulation ahead of contributing to a great night for the audience’. Chris Sweeney @westend_dj
I’d forgotten that I had this in my collection…so glad I ‘bumped into it again’ what a brilliant record it is from two legends U Roy on vocals and Lee Perry as Producer and the Upsetters band in full swing.

Before you fill all your newspapers, programmes & Prime Ministerial pronouncements with celebrations & congratulations, please tell me again why you defended & encouraged the booing of these heroes for protesting against the racism they witness & experience...
It’s so utterly sickening to hear England fans boo when a rival team’s National Anthem is played …they just did it again when the Danish National Anthem played. What happened to having some respect for your opponents in sport.
I think Steve Wright is a radio genius. You don't have to agree or think his salary's justified but his love of his craft, attention to detail & unfeigned interest in guests is very, very rare. For once, this is a subject about which I do actually know a bit!
Sad news for our industry but we keep going! New date announced. Aug 22nd. All tickets valid. Last few left. When we do all come back together it will be even more special! Let’s do all we can to keep our spirits up for all those effected. David
How on earth can @BBCr4today even contemplate allowing a Tory MP to criticise the taking of a knee by England players without mentioning that his colleague, Brendan Clarke-Smith, has compared it to the Nazi salute? Cannot believe my ears. Absolutely craven conduct.

#Shaggy says “the hypocrisy is blatant,” the way many Jamaicans decide when he is a Dancehall artist & when he isn’t.
He tells #Soundchatradio it’s hard being at the top of a genre that’s burdened with lots of negative stereotypes.
