Three years ago, a lone gunman took 11 lives at the Tree of Life Synagogue. It was the deadliest act of antisemitism in our nation's history—and a reminder that we must rally against hate in all its forms. May the memories of those who lost their lives forever be for a blessing.

We honor the memory of the 11 Jews murdered at Pittsburgh’s Tree of Life Synagogue three years ago today – the deadliest antisemitic attack to occur on U.S. soil. These killings stand as a stark reminder that we must all come together to combat antisemitism at home and overseas.

General Colin Powell understood what was best in this country, and tried to bring his own life, career, and public statements in line with that ideal. Michelle and I will always look to him as an example of what America—and Americans—can and should be.

So even those poor, benighted candy corn haters might enjoy it. My advice: October is young! Try it on any of the next three Shabbatot. Just fold a generous helping of candy corn into your favorite challah dough, then rise, braid, and bake as normal. You’ll thank me! Enjoy! 3/3
The result, in our already fairly sweet challah recipe, was a kind of candied or cake-like flavor: melt-in-your-mouth sweet &delicious for challah, but actually less sweet than when you grab a handful of candy corn. The dough kind of muted the Halloween flavor we know & love. 2/3
So everyone asked: how did the candy corn challah taste? Six people at our Shabbat table all agreed: it was amazing. I thought it would produce a raisin effect. But mostly, the candy corn pieces melted in the baking process, save for a few chewy bits. 1/3
I look forward to welcoming @yairlapid and @ABZayed, my counterparts from Israel and the UAE, to Washington next week for meetings to discuss accomplishments since the signing of the Abraham Accords and other important issues.
