David Aldridge

A strong exchange between a good reporter (@eric_nehm, the Bucks’ beat writer for @TheAthleticWISC) asking a good question and Bucks owners Marc Lasry and Jamie Dinan. No rancor, no condescension. Question asked and answered. The way it should always be. twitter.com/eric_nehm/stat…
Any young man of color, and of a certain age, felt a certain way about Diahann Carroll for a long time. Maybe we still do. :-) Thank you for sharing your gift, for giving us all someone who looked like us on TV to celebrate, and for your dignity and grace. May you rest well.

To me, the rest of this series is pretty simple. Strasburg, Scherzer, Corbin start. Sanchez next 1-2 innings. Doolittle and Hudson finish, last three innings if necessary. Every game.
Having said all that, I’ve never seen a team win a game scoring no runs.
Basically, with the days off between games, I don’t think there’s any reason you can’t use Doolittle or Hudson in the 7th for every high leverage situation in this series.
No one is surprised by this outcome who’s watched this bullpen all season. Thought Martinez might go with Doolittle in that situation.
Tough night at the defensive office for Kendrick.
Changes in Orioles/Brandon Hyde's staff for 2020 have begun. According to sources, the club has chosen not to renew contracts of 1B/OF coach Arnie Beyeler or assistant hitting coach Howie Clark, who was lone carryover from Showalter's staff. Don't know about others at this point

Thinking of my friends and colleagues at Sports Illustrated today. Thursdays were big at my house, because that was the day SI came in the mail. It was the magazine kids like me read, cover to cover, every week. Good luck to everyone going forward.

This summer, few days passed without me being asked about a return of the #Pistons' teal uniform. That got me thinking, "How did they ever end up wearing teal?" So, I spent weeks searching for answers. Here's the oral history you didn't know you needed: theathletic.com/1135388/2019/1…

The Caps started the regular season right with a big win in St. Louis Wednesday against the defending champs. Our @Tarik_ElBashir was there and came away with five observations, including Ovechkin’s laser, Holtby’s calm & the new guys’ adjustments: bit.ly/2oLeCcG
Another great read from our @danconnolly2016 in @TheAthleticBAL: near the end of their awful season, Orioles players (blessedly) went low tech & sent handwritten notes to season ticket holders thanking them for sticking with the team this year: bit.ly/2o8me92
The Nationals start the Division Series tonight against the Dodgers. Before first pitch, check out this great read in @TheAthleticDC from @Britt_Ghiroli on how they rebuilt their Dominican Republic operation, with Juan Soto & Victor Robles leading the way: bit.ly/2oMRRoG
ICYMI: The Nationals were four outs away from another offseason full of playoff recrimination. But with one swing, and one improbable error, they made all that pain melt away in front of their delirious home crowd. Thoughts from Tuesday, in @TheAthleticDC: bit.ly/2mNYtCB

There's something you don't see every day. In fact, you haven't seen it here in about 86 years. A Washington baseball team advances in the playoffs. This one, you'll want to stop and watch again. Baseball...Jesus.
Strasburg throws three shutout innings, two hits allowed, no walks, four strikeouts.
I would expect you'll see Hader for the last six outs for the Brewers. Tough hill for Nationals to climb.
Nationals have yet to get a leadoff man aboard in seven innings.
Mystics fall in Game 2 of the WNBA Finals to Connecticut, with @De11eDonne playing just a few minutes in the first quarter before leaving for good with back spasms. Sun have home court and have been great at Mohegan Sun, but EDD gets four days off before Game 3 Sunday.
Very surprised Martinez is letting Scherzer stay in. Hudson is ready.
Scherzer due up second in this inning. We’ll see.
The great @sportsiren said that @De11eDonne missed a lot of yesterday's practice because of a back issue and she's had back issues in the past.
