Part 6/6: All information regarding the deadly force investigation will come from the Colorado Springs Police Department. Information regarding the law enforcement officers and deputies involved in this incident will come from their respective agencies.
Part 5/6: The involved officers and deputies have been placed on administrative leave per their department policies. Per Colorado Revised Statute 16-2.5-301, the Colorado Springs Police Department is the lead investigative agency for this officer-involved shooting.
Part 4/6: Officers and deputies immediately started life-saving measures until medical personnel arrived, however, the suspect died on the scene. An El Paso County Sheriff’s K9 was shot and killed during this incident. No other deputies or officers were injured in this incident.
Part 3/6: As a result, at least one Manitou Springs Police Officer and at least one El Paso County Sheriff Deputy fired their duty weapon at least one time, striking the suspect.
Part 2/6: A short time later, officers and deputies contacted the suspect from that report. During that contact, the suspect fired at least one round at law enforcement personnel.
What we know so far Part 1/6: On April 11, 2022, at approximately 11:00 PM Manitou Springs Police Department Officers and El Paso County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to a business in the 900 block of Manitou Avenue due to a report of a person menacing others with a firearm.

The driver was taken into custody for multiple felony charges including 1st degree Burglary and Vehicular Homicide. CSPD's Major Crash Team responded, and the northeast onramp connecting Hancock Expressway to S. Circle Drive is currently closed while the investigation is ongoing.
Officers responded to the area, and found the two vehicle occupants had been ejected from the vehicle and were in the roadway. The driver sustained serious, but non life-threatening injuries. The passenger (not yet identified) was found to be deceased on arrival.
Officers returned & again found the suspect vehicle. The vehicle attempted to evade officers, and a pursuit was initiated. Officers later terminated the pursuit, and it was discovered that the suspect had lost control of the vehicle & crashed in the 1900 block of S. Circle Drive.
A short time later, on 4/7/22 at 12:53am, the same suspect returned to the residence, but this time was able to smash a window, and entered the occupied residence while in possession of a handgun. The victim fled on foot, and the suspect later left in a vehicle.
Mugshot Release: Kyle Hirschfield (34) On 4/6/22, CSPD officers were dispatched to a report of an attempted burglary of a residence in the 1800 block of Whitman Road. Upon arrival, officers located a possible suspect vehicle but were unable to develop probable cause for arrest.
CSPD made contact with the suspect, Darci Peters in the parking lot of the University Village Shopping Center. After identifying the suspect and conducting further follow-up Detective Hulett completed an arrest warrant charging Darci Peters with Identity Theft.
CSPD Detective arranged to have CSPD contact the suspect. The Phil Long Ford rep., who was in contact with the suspect was able to provide us with a picture of the fake Colorado identification card used for the purchase, as well as a current clothing description of the suspect.
The representative from Phil Long Ford became suspicious and was able to contact the actual person whose identity was being used to purchase this vehicle. The suspect later identified as Darci Peters was expecting to pick up the vehicle in the 5000 block of North Nevada Avenue.
Mugshot release: Darci Peters (47) On 03/18/22, the Financial Crimes Unit was notified of an identity theft involving the victim’s identity being used to purchase a $45,000 vehicle online from Phil Long Ford.
Perez is being held for the charges of 2nd° Burglary involving a firearm, Theft of over $12,000, Criminal Mischief, and Petty Offense. Approximately $9,000 of property was recovered and returned to multiple victims.
Reilly is being held for the charges of 2nd° Burglary involving a firearm, Theft of over $12,000, Criminal Mischief, and Petty Offense.
Donally is being held for the charges of 2nd° Burglary involving a firearm, Theft of over $12,000, Criminal Mischief, and Petty Offense.
Detectives learned that Jesus Perez was staying at a hotel in Pueblo Colorado. With the assistance of the Colorado Springs Police Department’s Armed Violent Offender Unit and members from the Pueblo Police Department, Perez was taken into custody around midnight without incident.
On April 5, 2022, the CSPD Fugitive Task Force located Donally and Reilly at a house in the 2700 block Fredericksburg Dr. located in El Paso County Colorado. Donally and Reilly were taken into custody peacefully.
During the burglary, three individuals broke into a storage unit and stole several thousand dollars’ worths of the victim’s property including several guns. Detectives were able to identify the burglars as Gregory Donally, Kayla Reilly, and Jesus Perez.
Mugshot Release: Gregory Donally, Kayla Reily, and Jesus Perez. Beginning in mid-March the Sand Creek Investigations Division began investigating a storage unit burglary that occurred at the Public Storage located at 2790 Janitell Road.
Driving impaired is still a problem across the country. The Colorado Springs Police department has officers working extra patrols to identify and arrest drunk and drugged drivers, the extra patrol is paid for by a grant from CDOT #YouBoozeYouLose…Your License or Someone’s Life.
The suspect, 18-year-old Estevan Pacheco, also sustained injuries from being run over. He was taken into custody for Attempted First Degree Murder.
The suspect fired his weapon at the occupants of the truck, who then used their vehicle to run over the suspect. One occupant of the truck sustained serious injuries and was admitted to a local hospital. Additional occupants sustained minor injuries from gunshot wounds.
Minutes later, several calls for service were received in the 2400 block of Barkman Drive about another shooting. The suspect in the initial shooting was located by the truck associated with the victim from Astrozon Circle.
The home and its occupants were known to the suspect. An occupant of the home fired back at the suspect, who then fled from the scene on foot. Associates of the victim then began following the suspect in their truck.
Mugshot Release: Estevan Pacheco (18) On 04/02/22, at 6:03 PM, CSPD received a call for service regarding a shooting in the 2500 block of Astrozon Circle. Officers responded to the location and learned that an adult male suspect had fired several shots into an occupied dwelling.

On Friday, March 25, 2022, detectives identified a suspect as 19-year-old Raquel Chamberlain of Colorado Springs. Detectives obtained a warrant for her arrest for the charge of first degree murder. Ms. Chamberlain was taken into custody and booked into the El Paso County jail.
On March 23, 2022, the El Paso County Coroner’s Office completed the autopsy of the victim and identified him as 24-year-old Tryvone Brooks of Colorado Springs.
