Trump just took a question on the deadly 2017 white supremacist rally in Charlottesville. "People were there protesting the taking down of the monument to Robert E. Lee, a great general, everybody knows that," Trump says.

Biden may be most fragile frontrunner in recent history, w even some of his own admirers deeply skeptical this is his moment. But most in his world are under no illusions and think this is jump ball. As 1 put it: “It’s going to be hard, but we have as good of a shot as anyone.”

President Trump now says FISA court applications related to Russian interference and his campaign will be "declassified." This is something Meadows and others have been pushing him to do for months, to turn the spotlight away from Trump and to the probe. From tonight on Hannity.
This Hannity interview tonight is full of stark language from the president, all as a constitutional clash unfolds between the White House and Congress. "This was an attempted overthrow of the United States government," President Trump says of the Mueller investigation.
A fundamental question for Biden’s campaign is whether he — who in many ways still sounds in 2019 like he did in 1987 — can win over a party that has undergone fundamental shifts over the past few years. washingtonpost.com/politics/the-a…

The president’s attacks on his former White House counsel are driven by Trump’s growing belief that his opponents on Capitol Hill will use McGahn’s testimony as the cornerstone of a possible impeachment case against him. My latest report w/ @WPJohnWagner washingtonpost.com/politics/trump…
In conversations today w/ several Trump advisers, it was clear that Trump is the one driving this standoff with Congress. No "whisperer," as one put it. Just a man alone, eyeing the TV, and urging everyone from Cipollone to Giuliani to take a hard line. twitter.com/Morning_Joe/st…

All eyes on Don McGahn and his lawyer, Bill Burck. What's their next move? Go along with the WH and wait for courts to decide privilege issues? Or, put his right hand in the air and tell his story? My analysis on the "Post Reports" podcast: washingtonpost.com/podcasts/post-…
“If Biden can make it through the primaries, he’s the one Dem candidate who appeals to the white working-class voters who handed the election to Trump — and could hand 2020 to Biden instead.” @GovChristie on @TinaBrownLM's podcast, "TBD"
The Biden launch video gets to something I’ve noticed for the past two years: Biden centers Trump in his messaging more than any other post-Hillary Dem. Other Dems talk about Trumpism growing out of policy failure. Biden describes one aberrant leader who must be replaced.

Questions on race, faith and tradition confront Buttigieg in South Carolina. My latest report: wapo.st/2UUbudK
On Easter Sunday, I visited a historically black church in N. Charleston, S.C., and asked Democrats about Buttigieg. Some interesting conversations. Most didn't know much about him. Some were open to hearing more. Biden had a lot of support. Seen as a seasoned hand. Story soon.
"We're fighting all the subpoenas," President Trump said, in remarks to reporters moments ago. He was asked about the House Judiciary Committee's subpoena for former WH counsel Don McGahn.

Buttigieg asked on CNN tonight about demoting South Bend's first black police chief. He says he was "slow to understand just how much anguish" that decision would cause. But he stands by his decision, citing an ongoing federal probe at the time as his rationale.
Most interesting things in UNH poll: - Sanders, at 30% now, has bounced between 24% and 35%. Not a lot of converts. - Warren keeps fading despite great press. From 17% last summer to 5% now. - Biden tumbling to lowest support ever. scholars.unh.edu/cgi/viewconten…
