According to Dems' math, we could have lifted 1,388 children out of poverty for an entire year if we had sent this money to them. $5M ÷ $300 Payments ÷ 12 Months That's not really how poverty works, but let's not get in the way of feel-good rhetoric. denverpost.com/2021/07/16/col…

“ɪ ᴛʜɪɴᴋ ᴛʜᴇ ᴛʜᴇᴍᴇ ɪꜱ ᴛʜᴇʏ ᴅɪᴅ ᴡʜᴀᴛᴇᴠᴇʀ ᴛʜᴇʏ ᴡᴀɴᴛᴇᴅ ᴛᴏ.” Senator Rankin (@votebobrankin) doesn't hold back in his evaluation of @COSenDem this session. They did what they wanted, when they wanted. Link: bit.ly/3itmk4Y
Read the bill: bit.ly/SB21-037 Unfortunately, @COSenDem is a bit too beholden to the school employees union. They voted to kill SB21-037. Politicians know best, not parents.
What did Republicans push for this session? Senator @Paul_Lundeen introduced legislation that would have allowed for students to pull up to $4,741 of the tax dollars their parents pay to continue their schooling during COVID-19.
Confused? @COSenDem passed HB21-1162, which will ban styrofoam containers in restaurants and impose FEES on plastic and paper bags: bit.ly/HB21-1162 Then they also passed SB21-027 which will spend $4M in tax funds on a disposable diaper program: bit.ly/SB21-027co
What were the Democrats' priorities this session? We just had to ban styrofoam containers - because pollution is a massive concern for Democrats. At the same time, we'll be spending $4 million on disposable diapers. We were mocked when we brought up reusable diapers.
Was proud to Prime Sponsor this simple acknowledgement of our Gold Star families. Was sad when the Democrats killed it on a party line vote. twitter.com/ColoSenGOP/sta…

Maybe they’re just worried what would happen if elected officials weren’t able to use NDAs - or perhaps something else - but @COSenDem killed this bill. Read it: bit.ly/SB21-023
What did Republicans push for this session? Senator @bkirkmeyer introduced legislation that would have banned state agencies from using non-disclosure agreements to silence employees and cover up misdeeds.
What are we talking about here? First, @COSenDem killed HCR21-002 which would've provided the tax exemption to Gold Star families: bit.ly/HCR21-1002 Secondly, they passed SB21-199, which opens up state benefits to citizens of other nations: bit.ly/SB21-199co
What were the Democrats' priorities this session? $93,000 was too much for the spouses of those that gave their lives for our nation, but we will be spending up to $12 million to provide government benefits to citizens of other nations!
Today, we are expected to adjourn 𝘴𝘪𝘯𝘦 𝘥𝘪𝘦. "Sine die" is Latin for "without day," meaning that we are adjourning with no plan to return to this legislative session. For the rest of Colorado, it means "thank goodness, they can't do anymore da#COpoliticsoXDunNcP
"Get ready for plastic and paper bag fees in Colorado" Any more fees we want to impose on Coloradans before we adjourn today, @COSenDem? We'll just add it to your tab. #COpolitics coloradosun.com/2021/06/08/col…
.@COHouseGOP and @COHouseDem just killed this bill in committee. Perhaps simplified rhetoric like "stop criminalizing poverty" isn't appropriate for complex bills like this? #COpolitics twitter.com/COSenDem/statu…
Senator Dennis Hisey is wrapping up his third session this year. Previous to being elected to the Senate in 2018, he served as an El Paso County Commissioner from 2004 until 2018. He represents SD2. Give him a follow: @SenDennisHisey Learn More: bit.ly/SenatorHisey
"Dems showed they do not trust voters to decide who needs tax relief, even when it benefits those who have sacrificed the most. This bill passed in the House because common sense prevailed as Gold Star spouses have earned this right, their sacrifice should be honored.” @tgeitner twitter.com/colosengop/sta…

HCR21-1002 passed 11 to 0 out of the House Appropriations Committee. Then it passed 64 to 0 out of the House. Why did @COSenDem kill it? It had Democratic sponsors in both the House and Senate. Here's the resolution: bit.ly/HCR21-1002
⚠️ BREAKING: A bipartisan referred measure to provide Gold Star widows/widowers with the same property tax exemption as disabled veterans was killed by @COSenDem this morning. It would've given a 50% tax credit of the first $200,000 of their home value.
Senator Barbara Kirkmeyer has been a rockstar during her first session. She's a UC Boulder grad, former Exec. Dir. of the Colorado Dept. of Local Affairs, and served as a Weld County Commissioner for 20 years. Give her a follow: @bkirkmeyer Learn More: bit.ly/Kirkmeyer
Congratulations to Senator @jimsmallwood for having HB21-1222 signed into law by @GovofCO. This bill will make it easier for childcare facilities to be licensed (and remain licensed), increasing access and potentially driving down costs. Info: bit.ly/HB21-1222 #COpolitics
