Eighteen Years Married
I’m twice the man I was when I met her - growing my patience, humility, and kindness. I’m also half the man I used to be when I met her - literally losing half my weight from those days. I can’t wait to see what the next 18 years brings our way. Happy anniversary babe! 4/4

First cruise in more than 3 years starts today for @melissalema and I - along with 5 days of not working (I didn’t take a break after leaving @LiquidWeb). Can’t wait.
Melissa’s replacement passport has been acquired (in New Orleans). Now we fly home so we can get on the cruise ship tomorrow. Can’t wait to unplug for a few days!

I think @sirjonathan is right that WP business models often struggle, though my diagnosis is slightly different. I don't think the issue is WHAT they're selling. In my 20+ years of coaching I’ve noticed what you likely already know: People who regularly take action and execute quickly on “tweaks” to their business regularly outperform those who spend time explaining why “that won’t work” to every new idea they hear.
I have no idea why we flew past LaGuardia to Hartford but now we need to refuel so we can go back to NYC. It feels like we only know half the story. But that’s because I spent the whole flight watching the DB Cooper Netflix series. :)
In a rare case of fun & quick travel, @melissalema and I are flying to NYC (out on Saturday / back on Sunday) to see Music Man w/@RealHughJackman & to visit @ProperCloth for a sizing appointment (because I’m a new smaller size).

So start by asking others what sets you apart. Start by finding out what alternatives customers were considering. And from there, pull together ways that THEY feel you're better than the rest. That's what you want to double down on. Outside-In will always beat Inside-Out.
Maybe the fact that you're made in the US isn't a huge deal to people. Maybe more important to them is that you can deliver faster. Your products are prepared and shipped in 5 days instead of 15. If customers regularly choose you because of your turn around time, use that!
Follow up with recent customers and find out WHY they chose you. What other alternatives did they explore and how did they come to settle on you? That's starting from the outside and is a much stronger way to get at your distinctiveness. Let's go back to our example...
If you make & sell t-shirts, and you say that you're made in the US (and that's your distinction), that may or may not matter to the person who is buying. They've bought and worn a lot of clothes that wasn't made in the US. Why should they care about it? Start from the outside.
