Zach on the offseason moves giving him confidence in the org: "It was huge, getting a guy like Vooch at the deadline... getting a guy like DeMar, Zo & AC, bringing those guys is huge. This year has been incredible... I thought it'd be a special year & it was a special group."
Zach on free agency: "I understand the relationship I've had with AK and the last five years here, I hope the city understands how much I care about the Bulls. I'm going into everything open-minded but knowing how much I've enjoyed my time here."
Zach LaVine: "I need to go into the offseason and figure out how to get back to 100%. I wasn't playing at 100, need to find a strategy to get my knee back to normal, get back to LA and see my doctor and figure out what's the best plan of action."
AK: "I was pleasantly surprised last summer how many people wanted to play in Chicago. The history of this franchise, the city of Chicago, I think anybody that steps into the UC feels the passion & energy... a lot of people want to play in Chicago."
AK on the roster: "I hope for continuity, because we're competing against teams that have been together 3-5 years - results come when you keep the same group longer. We'll figure out what additions we need - shooting, defense, size, athleticism - we'll sit down & figure it out."
AK on Zo: "We missed him greatly this year. We missed his size, him pushing the break, we got a little bit slower second-half of the season. We missed his eight 3-pt attempts @ 42%. We're missing him but we'll pay attention to what's going on there and figure it out this summer."
AK: "I want to thank our fanbase, coming back to (the UC), it was special to watch them. The passion in that building, I hated to disappoint them... even when we went on the road sometimes we felt like we were playing in Chicago. The support we had from fans was amazing."
Coach: "Our fans this year were incredible... those last 4 home games of the regular season, you want to play much better than we did, certainly Game 3 and 4 here... but there's a lot we can take from this year to build on moving forward."
Coach: "When you look at the results, there was some moments where we did a lot of really good things & moments we didn't... the success piece, to me, was with what we had to endure - it could have been unbelievably difficult to deal with, had we not had the kind of guys we had."
AC: “I don’t know if we got to see our full potential. To have as many guys as we did miss games... (missing) big pieces hurt the symmetry, chemistry, the ability to form habits during the season… I think we’re a really good team with a chance to be really special.”
"To be part of this culture, org, city... everything that comes with being with Chicago, it’s definitely an honor... As a kid, there’s always a couple teams you want to create your player to play for, and that’s the Lakers and the Bulls. For me to have this run here, it’s great.”
DeMar says he plans on inviting teammates, including Patrick Williams, to work out with him in LA to go through a “Summer from Hell” - offseason workouts he does every year.
When asked who he got his offseason workout regiment from: “Kobe. I got it from Kobe early in my career.”
Ayo on potentially playing in Summer League: “I would like to. That would be a fun experience. Either way I’m fine with that, another way to play and showcase your game. Fun to see between now and another 2 months.”
