By tough I mean that I am not going into this with rose colored glasses or expectations of what a kid would provide me-- rather I want to do this because these kids deserve this no matter their age.
I know I am sufficiently tough and experienced enough to be able to foster a kid who has been in the system or who has no where to call home.
I mean I have researched it-- I almost fostered a couple years ago-- then stuff happened-- so am aware of the general research-- but I haven't gone through the process.
When I get myself settled in the next year or so, I am gonna look into fostering kids. I particularly want to work with kids who are older (teenagers) or who are struggling to find homes. I know nothing about fostering, but I am putting it out there.
"Teenagers, especially those in poverty or the foster-care system, are particularly vulnerable...Under federal law, these children are victims, not criminals. Yet every year, kids who have been sex trafficked are detained and charged with crimes."…
This episode is the best thing I've heard on this foundational American speech by #frederickdouglass…

@alexadobrien A bit off topic, but my all time favorite arrest report was someone pulling two trailers and *pushing* a boat on the high-line near Havre. The driver and his son were experiencing difficulties with the ropes they had rigged to steer the boat trailer.

Also— never use the dry weight — always assume your RV (unless you have weighted it on a CAT scale) is the gross vehicle weight.
— IOW, do the calculation yourself with manufacturer material— car sales people and even your friend Joe may not know what “he” is talking about.
Much of the advice I am getting from ppl on towing capacity for trucks is really bad—

I’m looking at F150s right now.
The cats don’t trust me anymore— they know I use food and treats to capture them from their Garden of Eden and put them in the tent for the night.
By freezing cold for August— 71 degrees F.
It’s freezing cold in Seattle.

Yardstick is figurative speech for understanding one’s own limitations—
And that generally was the message of the preacher today at the Pentecostal service— he was also a humble preacher— so the danger of so called religiosity and it’s predilection for its own shadows and emotionalism as spirituality— was tempered by that. He had a yardstick.
For many on Twitter who have read Tocqueville this is old news— but he generally observed that Christianity (as a other centered religion) was good for democracies like ours because it turned self-interest into self-interest rightly understood— that is what I meant earlier today.
My mom is trying to tell me to park the camper (if I get it, in front of her home)— (because I have a lot of work right now). I am not sure she realizes how big the thing is with a truck.
Pretty sure 3/4 of my feed have me pegged as a Pentecostal RV freedom lover at this point in this adventure. lol
I’m cool with the recliners when I learned they were massage chairs.…
This is my favorite travel trailer (tied with the Arctic Fox)— I have a funny story about the name of the latter— didn’t know it was a brand— thought some older ‘ladies man’ at one of the Nat. Parks I was at, was using it as a calling card—
America (From "The Jazz Singer" Soundtrack) #FridayDiscoBackup
After service brunch with my mom and aunt has had mentions about Afghanistan, Russian jets, the Cuban missile crisis, Korean soap operas, and Australian railroads.
This is for anyone curious from yesterday.
(not stretching this)— good message whether Christian or no.
It’s 1.5 hours into the service. Confirming that there are people ‘speaking in tongues.’ Speaking profanely here on Twitter to just report— it’s a good service— preacher is good too— the sermon reminds me of Tocqueville discussion of Christianity and Democracy In America
Mississippi COVID-19 patients who refuse to self-isolate could face fines, jail time. “The state has been struggling with a relatively low vaccination rate - only 37 percent of the population is fully vaccinated, according to data from Johns Hopkins.”…
Tomorrow, I’m going to a church we’re they speak in tongues. Can’t wait.
I need to get someone to send them to me. Lol
I wish RV floor plans didn’t focus so much entertainment theaters and recliners— but I get why they do. I use to dislike environments (esp. homes) where then the TV was on 24/7. Anyone else?
This is the floor plan I am gravitating towards.
“Why would you apologize when we had pork belly the last night?”
Frankly, I should have got an travel trailer a hundred years ago-- given how much traveling I do in my car. I mean I am always late to the party.
RV fever. lol I told my aunt she should get an RV too.
Essentially the cats are living in my mom’s garden for the next week.

Need to head to the coast to avoid this— while I work out the RV issue
So the side note is the year of my divorce all our cats died (we had three) and I didn’t get to say good bye to my dog— so I lost nearly everything. So it took me a very long time to get pets again.
