Hi pals, I've launched a fundraiser featuring hand-dyed bandanas, with 100% of profits to abortion funds. There will also be a community hand-dying brunch on July 3rd, co-hosted with @LeslieLevings in El Sereno, CA, if you'd like to come hang out and dye your own bandana!

Just throwing this out there: how about we *donโ€™t* combat the loss of bodily autonomy for one group of people by proposing the loss of bodily autonomy for another group of people. ๐Ÿคฆ๐Ÿผโ€โ™€๏ธ๐Ÿค”๐Ÿคท๏ฟฝโ€ฆSXoUJ

We all have so much justified anger, so much righteous and deserved rage, that it can be easy to forget we have more than one right way to save each other.
All the more reason to pass sanctuary city bills like we're doing in Ithaca. Prohibit government employees from cooperating with these bullshit out of state investigations.โ€ฆ

Patio garden update (for those who need a little beauty today): Snapdragons + celosia are blooming. The cherry tomato shrubs got their first blossoms; our standard tomato plant we call "Big Mama" is fat & happy. There's green hot peppers just waiting to turn red, and - 1/2
Our government can't regulate guns carried ON your person despite massive numbers of people killed by guns everyday but can regulate what a person (not only women) does INSIDE their body by criminalizing safe abortions. We told you it was coming but it's still so fucking tragic.
If you want to make a difference in your community, check out your county's advisory boards. They're most always looking for volunteers, and you affect policies for everything from environmental management to mental health. Here's my county, for example:โ€ฆ
It's vital that everyone knows how to shut up when being questioned by the cops. All you say is: * Why did you pull me over/enter my shop/etc.? * I'm not discussing my day with you. * Am I being detained? * (and if you are) I invoke the 5th & I want a lawyer. THEN YOU SHUT UP.โ€ฆ
I spent a couple of hours caring for various plants in my container garden yesterday; very pleased to see my dill plants (which were drooping and yellowing) are all bright and fresh this morning! A little pruning goes a long way. Now to take that energy into editing a story...
This is amazing. I love seeing all the advances in programming and tech we make just to better visualize what life might be like with species that disappeared off the planet millions of years ago. I also really want a couple of cutie raptor buddies to be my friends, please. ๐Ÿฅฐโ€ฆs
If you're intrigued, you want to see more, check out the classic trailer on YouTube: Whatever you're imagining from the pics above, I promise you're not quite prepared for this movie. It's fabulous, it's ridiculous, but it totally and completely commits.
Plus there's a lot of this, if you're interested in that sort of thing. (I know who you are.)
Also, there's a lot of god-meddling, and a very evil princess in spandex... Also Circe in a one-piece bathing suit, but honestly that fits with everything else.
He fights stuff! Bad guys, gods, and a surprising number of robots for ancient Greece...
To all the folks thinking "What if mythology, but science fiction??" for their next project, please let me introduce you to one of the greatest movies off the early 80's: HERCULES, starring Lou Ferrigno ๐Ÿบ๐Ÿค–โš”๏ธ๐Ÿช„๐ŸŒŒ๐ŸŒ‹ (a smol thread) Behold, our hnXR0o
A beautiful example of a different type of epic story, one that begins with the safety and comfort of service to the State, and ends with the relief of returning to it, rather than seeing conquest or glorious battle as the end all and be all for a heroic figure.โ€ฆ
Lying in bed, reading Twitter on my phone in the dark, when suddenly this little paw lands on my chest, as if to say "Human, go the f*ck to sleep."

For my Patrons, I reviewed "Artist Loft" Gouache; $5.99 for 12 colors (12 ml tubes) at @MichaelsStores. SHORT REVIEW: For what it is - an entry-level student gouache - it's not bad! Some colors were too thin (not enough pigment, almost watercolors) and a few too thick, but 1/2

Bleak to see anyone say, โ€œtrans rights are not a priority when we are headed for literal fascismโ€ as though the attacks on trans people and all queer people at this point arenโ€™t a major part of the plan to develop new scapegoats, police more people, and build literal fascism.

YES Except it's always possible to transcribe podcasts. The people doing the podcast decided transcripts aren't worth the time to do themselves or money to pay someone else. That's a choice they're free to make of course, but we make excuses for them by saying it's not possible.โ€ฆ
The word "palaeontology" was used for the first time, on record, in January of 1822. By Henri Marie Ducrotay, a French Anatomist, in Journal de Physique. Happy 200 years then, "palaeontology"! ๐ŸŽ‚P

The person specifically checked out books from Pride displays - books the library had chosen as most helpful, positive, uplifting stories for people to read this month. They've tried getting them back but so far... All they can do is wait. Let's get more books on their shelves!
Our wonderful local library @tcplny got hit by a weirdly homophobic move: someone checked most of their QUILTBAG+ books out just so no one else could read them during Pride month. The solution? Buy more queer books! ๐Ÿ’œ๐Ÿ’™๐Ÿ’š๐Ÿ’›๐Ÿงกโค๏ธ Here's how you canโ€ฆNiuxc

Woke up at 4:30 am because a thunderstorm developed overnight and I was worried about the baby plants on a shelf outside so after I moved them - and got rained on in the process - I wrote the outline to a new short story that might be Bradbury, might be horror, we'll have to see?
