At a recent afternoon practice, dozens of student-athletes launched from the Ted Turner '60 Sailing Pavilion, part of the rebuilt Edgewood Yacht Club in Cranston, into the #NarragansettBay waves, navigating strong winds under cloudy skies.
Fresh off a pair of second-place finishes at the New England Fall Championships, both teams will continue competition this weekend at @collegesailing's Singlehanded National Championships.
For 125 years and counting, @BrownAthletics has been a powerhouse for #sailing: Its varsity coed and women's teams consistently rank among the top 10 in the nation, and just six months ago, the women's team captured second in the College Sailing Women's National Championship.

University President Christina H. Paxson said Brown’s cosponsorship of the lighting is an investment not just in this weekend’s event, but also in the transformative long-term economic and cultural impact the one-of-a-kind experience continues to make in @CityofProv and @rigov.
During each lighting, more than 80 sparkling bonfires, the fragrant scent of wood smoke, the flickering firelight on the city’s arched bridges, the torch-lit vessels traveling down the river, and the enchanting music from around the world engage the senses.
Launched in the mid-1990s by Brown Class of 1975 graduate Barnaby Evans, the award-winning WaterFire has been acclaimed by Rhode Island residents and international visitors alike as a powerful work of art and a moving symbol of Providence’s renaissance.
